ISLAMABAD / NOWSHERA: PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to speak with relatives of Baloch’s missing persons who had staged a protest in D-Chowk, reported Geo News.
“You are placed in the corridors of power,” he said in a message to the prime minister and his government while visiting the protest site. “It is your job to listen to these people.” Maryam said the government should notify the relatives of the disappeared about their fate, adding “victims are victims, they must not be linked to any province.”
He said the prime minister should come to D-Chowk and talk to the protesters, saying that the commission for missing persons was of no value. “You haven’t received any commission to date. The commission is useless,” he said, describing it as an ‘eye wash’. Maryam said if anyone had committed a crime, then there was a court in the country to handle it according to the judicial process.
“The state has a responsibility to protect its citizens,” he said, reaffirming his stance that if a missing person is guilty of a crime, he should be tried in court. When asked what she would do for the missing, Maryam said she could do nothing but listen to their complaints.
“They said many things before coming to power. Later, there will be compulsion,” said the PML-N leader, insinuating the PTI government. Maryam laments that everyone in the country, from doctors to female health workers, is on the streets demanding justice.
Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz said that the Pakistani government of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) used the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to harass its opponents. Speaking at a meeting regarding the by-election for PK-63 provincial council members here, he said that the day was not long before the NAB would face popular anger.
PML-N has given tickets to Ikhtiar Wali to participate in the by-election. PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal, Information Secretary Maryum Aurangzeb, PML-N Provincial Head Amir Muqam, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Provincial Head Maulana Ataur Rahman, Provincial Head of Pakistan People’s Party Humayun Khan, Nasir Ahmad Khan from the Qaumi Watan Party, and others also attended the occasion.
Criticizing the PTI government, Maryam Nawaz said Prime Minister Imran Khan was responsible for the country’s record inflation. He says the one who calls other people thieves is the head of all the mafia.
The PML-N leadership said that members of all mafias had joined the PTI government, which was responsible for the sugar and flour crisis. Maryam Nawaz said that the price of daily necessities is beyond the reach of the poor. He said that the price of medicines has also increased.
The PML-N leadership said that people’s purchasing power was eroded due to the inflation that hit the PTI rulers who could not deliver and increase the people’s misery. He said the growth rate was 5.7 percent when the PML-N was in power but has fallen to zero in the government of Imran Khan, who was declared ‘Sadiq and Amin’ by former Supreme Court chief Saqib Nisar.
Maryam Nawaz said that it is time to hold accountable those who have hindered the country’s economic growth. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was not obedient to the nation, but to others.
Asking the government to tell him how many houses were built and how many jobs were created, he added that the PTI government gave the NRO to Papa Johns. He urged people to vote for PML-N candidates to tell the rulers and they are fed up with them and want to see the end of this government.
Maryam Nawaz said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people were under the control of the PTI rulers for the past eight years. He said people were condemning the PTI government and were thinking of ways to get rid of this arrangement.
