Twitter expands access to voice tweets and reconfirms plans for automatic subtitles for voice messages | Instant News

Remember when Twitter released one of its biggest news last June, Twitter’s new option to add audio clips to tweets?

It was a magical moment when social media experts started testing new features, celebrities added tweets with their voices, and it caused huge hype at that time.

This lasted only five hours, and then the tweet about the audio clip seemed to end soon.

The reason behind this is that audio editing does not bring huge functional advantages there, because 90% of people there hate their voices when recording.

However, another reason is that the new feature has some criticisms that it does not consider people who cannot hear clearly, so you exclude them from the conversation. Then, Twitter stated that it does not have a team focused on accessibility, and since then, they have two teams dedicated to improving the system to ensure that tweets are available to all users.

But when it comes to audio tweets, the damage has already been done, and the hype surrounding the new feature ends so quickly. Besides, we haven’t heard much about it since then.

until today:

Therefore, the audio tweet option is now available for more iOS users, but there is no Android news so far. Twitter also confirmed that it will add automatic subtitles to voice tweets as soon as possible, considering people who cannot hear the voice.

As a result, more people now have access to audio tweets, and more users will soon like to see what people are sharing in their audio clips with the automatic subtitles they intend to add.

Of course, there are a range of potential opportunities for using sound clips in tweets, and sadly, Twitter’s lack of awareness of accessibility has reduced interest in the feature to some extent.

However, from a social marketing and business perspective, it may be worth considering how sound tweets fit your Twitter approach and provide your users with novel and unique content.

Over time, the release of automatic subtitles on audio tweets will make it a very valuable and easy-to-use option.

It’s a strange time to travel | To select | Instant News

Next week we will be in Pennsylvania to visit our daughter who is at school in Erie on Lake Erie This will be one of our most unique trips as face masks are needed for almost the entire trip . Traveling is just not what it used to be. Do you remember when people smoked cigarettes in the middle of the flight? A little light came on to tell the passengers it was time to put out their cigarettes, we were going to land. Smokers who flew on the plane at the time were very upset when new rules banned smoking on board. I have a feeling these same people would be really unhappy with the requirement to wear a mask for the entire flight We received an email reminding us that anyone over 2 years old must also wear a mask at airports except when we were We were also told that we would receive an “ all-in-one ” snack bag that included a wrapped disinfectant wipe, an 8.5 ounce water bottle and two snacks, as well as a sealed drink on flights over 2 hours and 20 minutes. “On flights shorter than that, we’ll have a sealed drink and that’s it. No more friendly flight attendant taking our drink order. Erie is quite close to Niagara Falls. We were wondering if we could see it or not, as people like to go to the Canadian side for a better view, and the border between the US and Canada is closed at least until the end of August. which is the boat that takes you near the falls, was closed in June, it is now open on the US side and available for people in good health, wearing masks and willing to stand at least 6 feet from other people on a small boat .Fort Niagara opened in July and is available for healthy masked visitors, which is the same for all the restaurants we stop at. There won’t be any buffets though, and it looks like food “that requires minimal preparation” will be the rule. Fortunately, Pennsylvania is not on the list of states that require a 14-day quarantine when we arrive home. We were also assured that the plane is cleaned within an inch of its life and that airports will be cleaner than our homes. Still, we have small containers of disinfectant to use liberally when we feel too far away from a sink and soap, and we’ll avoid other people like the plague. our face, and white where the mask was. It’s a strange time to travel. .

Pope Francis praised the solidarity initiative in Brazil | Instant News

Pope Francis sent a message through Cardinal Michael Czerny praising the efforts of the Sem Terra Movement in the fight against hunger amid the Covid-19 crisis in Brazil.

By the Vatican News

As the world continues to struggle with the challenges caused by the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the Without Earth Movement (MST) – a landless workers movement in Brazil – helps vulnerable people fight the scourge of hunger. So far, the movement has distributed 2,500 tons of food.

In a message sent on July 25, Rural Workers Day in Brazil, Cardinal Michael Czerny SJ, Deputy Secretary of the Migrant and Refugee Section of the Dicastery to Promote Integral Human Development, expressed Pope Francis’s appreciation for the solidarity initiative amidst this time’s effort.

“On behalf of Pope Francis, and also on my side, we would like to express our joy at the good attitude of the food distribution carried out by the Agrarian Reform family in Brazil,” read the message.

“Sharing the produce of the land to help needy families in the suburbs is a sign of God’s kingdom that produces solidarity and fellowship of brotherhood.”

Sharing brings life

Cardinal Czerny recalled that when Jesus saw the crowds who were hungry, he was filled with compassion and multiplied bread to feed them. People eat and there is still food left over (Mk 6:34 – 44).

“Sharing produces life, creates brotherhood, changes society,” he said.

“We hope that your movement will multiply and encourage other groups to do the same,” he added, “because ‘God loves a cheerful giver’ (2 Cor 9: 7).”

Blessing

In closing the message, Cardinal Czerny invoked God’s blessings and protection to people in the midst of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

“May the Holy Spirit protect you from the Covid-19 virus, and give you courage and hope in this time of social isolation!” he prayed.

“And on this day from those who cultivate the land, may our good Lord protect and bless all families who work on the land and fight for the distribution of land and care for our homes together!”

Without Earth Movement

The Landless Workers’ Movement (MST) began in the 1980s to create access to land for poor workers through land reform in southern Brazil.

Today MST is present in 24 of the 26 states in the country, and serves around 370,000 settled families and about 100,000 displaced families. It also involved 100 cooperatives, 96 industries, and 1900 associations.

Opinion: why Canada delays mandatory mask? | Instant News

It’s all excuses, every day that goes by that authorities in Canada kick the can down the road on mandatory mask policies. But having an intricate path, which first saw the medics to dismiss the usefulness of the mask, then yield to their application, and then finally to recommend their use“, where the physical distance is difficult to maintain,” most regions have now settled some of the status quo, where the government simply hope that Canadians have received and will heed the message.

No, not old messages – new message. The third or fourth Directive, I think. That is: wear a mask if you can, but no, it’s not required … unless you’re on some form of transit or travelling in certain regions … and only if you think you can’t physically distance you should try to find out ahead of time. In any case, to wear a mask now recommendations. Check back in July when he can become a “strong” recommendation.

Modeling specifies the proliferation COVID-19 can be significantly reduced, if at least 70 percent to 80 percent of the population began to wear masks in public places. Of course, generic masking is not a panacea, but one of the last the study of the 194 countries showed that the early use of masks was associated with significantly lower mortality and less severe outbreaks COVID-19. “The use of masks in public is an important and easily modifiable public health intervention,” write the authors.

Story continues below advertisement

However, the use of masks as only “recommended” measures not seen the uptake required to achieve threshold, effectively curb the spread of the disease. Only about 50 percent respondents a recent poll by Leger reported to wear a mask to go to the store. Without a Directive on mandatory masking, it is unclear how or when public health officials think that the remaining 50 percent will suddenly find the incentive to do this.

Only a few municipalities in Canada – Cote-Saint-Luc in québec, QC, Canada and Windsor-Essex and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Ontario – still authorized mask in public places, though an increasing number of us States, including Washington, Michigan, Nevada, today issued some covering the face of that. In the rest of Canada could get there in the end – late as it was recently in this country the practice of rolling out measures pandemic control. But, of course, public-health doctors recognized that the delay serves only the interests of the virus; if something is worth doing, in the end, it is worth doing now, especially in the provinces and cities are still on their way to discovery.

Of course, there will be problems with its implementation and realization. According to the Canadian civil liberties Association, tickets for Bylaw violations related to the pandemic over the past few months disproportionately was issued the black people, indigenous people and other racial minorities. That should make it clear that the methods of enforcement, including the decree officer training should be immediately revised to provide a more fair application. But that doesn’t make it mandatory mask policies is inherently illegitimate. If the idea is worthy, but the execution in question, we should not give up but rather focus on how to resolve problems with the authorities.

Even then, there will still be problems. People who don’t wear masks for medical reasons (asthma, for example) will always have to explain their terms to the ruling officers, employees of grocery stores and other businesses, and well-intentioned passers-by. This is undoubtedly unfair, but their discomfort should not outweigh the greater public good to the order authorizing wide use of the mask. And at run time will probably still be clumsy and irregular, the message for the General Directive, the disguise is probably as important as the actual implementation. Mandatory mask policy cuts through the flip-flops, confusion and the merging policy of the past. The message is unequivocal and clear: wear a mask in public places.

Without a doubt, some Canadians will resist what they perceive as a blatant encroachment on their personal freedom. But over the past few months, we have given our schools, our jobs, our leisure activities, social events and family celebrations. We closed our economy and for some time have lost my freedom to even sit on a Park bench. The order that people put a piece of cloth on their faces – what can be achieved with the cut t – shirt and elastic- this is, perhaps, the most cost effective and least Intrusive measures in relation to potential benefit in reducing the spread COVID-19. It just feels more Intrusive because we have something on our bodies.

But everything we’ve given over the past few months, this Directive will be the least destructive. And if it helps us get back to those other, much more important Freedom, is the introduction. Canada, like the rest of the world seems to be still moving in this direction. So what, exactly, are we waiting for?
