Key to Alternative Data for Decision Making in Financial Services, Bright Data Research Reveal | Instant News

LONDON – (BUSINESS WIRE) – 7 Apr 2021–

Bright Data (formerly Luminati Networks), a leading online data collection platform, today released new research findings highlighting the importance of alternative data in financial services. Insights, gathered in collaboration with leading market research experts Vanson Bourne, demonstrating the impact of alternative data in the US and UK versus old / traditional data. The survey concluded that nearly a quarter (24%) of financial services professionals working for organizations that collect alternative data use it to help with their daily work. The study questioned respondents from the financial services sector, including insurance, banking, and hedge funds and found a clear reliance on external data sources, with 95% of financial services organizations relying on outside information to contribute to business success in the past year.

The research findings also explain the constraints faced by financial institutions when using and working with alternative data. Three-quarters (75%) of banking professionals use alternative status data analysis as their greatest challenge. In addition, the survey revealed insights that respondents currently do not get from alternative data. For example, 80% of those surveyed stated that they need more competitive insights from alternative data, and 79% expect to get information about customer behavior from that data. These findings suggest that although many financial services professionals use alternative data, there is still a lack of understanding of how to properly analyze information to open insights.

Further key findings from the survey include:

  • Professionals from insurance companies (74%) and hedge funds (72%) find it much easier to integrate alternative data into decision making than those in banks (57%).
  • Sixty-four percent (64%) of organizations that rely on alternative data sources when building business strategy say that alternative data influences their investment strategy, and 59% say it influences their customer experience strategy.
  • Seventy-seven percent (77%) of US respondents found it easy or very easy to integrate alternative data sources into decision making, compared with only 49% of UK respondents.

“Gone are the days when quarterly earnings reports could be relied on as the primary source of data for decision making,” said Or Lenchner, CEO of Bright Data. “Financial services institutions seek alternative / external data for up-to-date insights that provide the most relevant, reliable and accurate data available. We have seen a significant increase in businesses in the space turning to Bright Data to collect alternative data. We look forward to continuing to empower these organizations with customized online data that guides their most important business strategies and decisions. “

The survey asked 100 employees from insurance, banking, hedge and quantum funds, and loan companies about their alternative data uses. This group represents US and UK respondents and includes employees who work within the IT and data departments of their organizations.

Latest: German Health Minister says it needs to be locked down | World | Instant News

JUNEAU, Alaska – The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported that the state had 22,300 fewer jobs last month than it did in February 2020, citing the ongoing economic toll from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The department said the biggest losses were in the recreation and hospitality sector, which had 7,300 fewer jobs last month compared to February 2020. Oil and gas had 3,900 fewer jobs, and the transportation, warehousing and utilities sectors had 1,800 fewer jobs.

The report shows 2,000 fewer local government jobs last month compared to February 2020, with the losses mainly related to K-12 education. There are 200 more jobs in the state government compared to February 2020, which according to the report was largely due to the pandemic related to recruitment for jobs such as contract tracking and processing of unemployment insurance claims.

The department said permanent job losses were “historically large”, with jobless claims during the second week of last month almost four times higher than the same week a year earlier.

PHOENIX – Health officials in Arizona announced an outdoor state-run COVID-19 mass vaccination site on the outskirts of Phoenix Chandler will be replaced April 5 with a drive-thru operation inside a large business warehouse in Mesa before hot weather approaches.

The Department of Health Services announced that the vaccination site currently running at Chandler-Gilbert Community College will use 30,000 square feet (2,787 square meters) of Dexcom Inc.’s 500,000 square feet (46,451 square meter) distribution center.

Biden clenched his fists as CDC director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, said the 100 million vaccine threshold had been reached.

The president told CDC staff: “We owe you a huge debt of gratitude and we will be doing it for a very, very long time. You are a soldier, you are a navy, a marine, a coast guard … you are the front line troops. “

PHOENIX – Arizona’s top health official said the state-run outdoor vaccination site would switch to nighttime operations or shut down next month in anticipation of warmer temperatures.

State Department Health Services Director Cara Christ said on Friday that officials were already observing indoor venues to replace parking operations at State Farm Stadium in Glendale and Phoenix City Stadium.

The state has identified a site in Mesa that will replace the vaccination clinic at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The University of Arizona in Tucson site, however, will continue to provide vaccines outdoors.

State Farm Stadium will only provide doses between 5pm and 9am starting April 4.

CEO: Italian-made Sputnik V destined for the EU market, if approved | World | Instant News

By COLLEEN BARRY Associated Press

MILAN (AP) – The head of a Swiss pharmaceutical company said Wednesday that the hope behind a deal with Russia to produce the Sputnik V vaccine in Italy is to sell it to EU countries, if regulators approve the injection.

“It’s not a goal, it’s a wish,” Adienne founder and president Antonio Francesco Di Naro told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The first agreement to build Sputnik V in any EU country was signed Tuesday by Swiss-based Adienne Pharma & Biotech and the Russian Direct Investment Fund. Production was scheduled for the Adienne plant near Milan, but Di Naro said the announcement that Adienne would produce 10 million doses this year, which was launched in July, was untrue.

Adienne is in the process of acquiring Russian technology, and will then start producing a number of vaccines which the Italian Medicines Agency must inspect before approval is given for commercial production.

“This procedure can take months, or even more, because it is a biological product,” said Di Naro. “I can’t say when we will start production for the commercial batch.”

The level of production will ultimately depend on market requirements once production has started.
