PDM Candidate Gilani from Islamabad | Instant News

ISLAMABAD / LAHORE / MULTAN: The three major political parties in Indonesia – PTI, PPP and PML-N – have finalized their candidate names for the upcoming Senate elections, with PDM nominating Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Farhatullah Babar as consensus candidates from Islamabad.

The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has selected the names of 15 candidates, including Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh from Islamabad and Faisal Vawda from Sindh. Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry tweeted the names of 13 candidates, while two others were named by the PTI Central Media Department.

Unlike other political parties, the ruling political parties have not yet invited formal applications from the candidates. The 11-member parliamentary council is chaired by Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Fauzia Arshad and Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh will be the PTI candidates from Islamabad, while Saifullah Nyazee, Dr Zarqa and Attorney Ali Zafar have been named from Punjab. The remaining names will be announced later.

Likewise, Faisal Vawda will contest the Senate election from Sindh while Saifullah Abro will be the PTI candidate for the technocrat seat. The name Abdul Qadir has been finalized from Balochistan. Vawda is facing a disqualification case at the Pakistan Election Commission for her foreign citizenship.

On the other hand, incumbent Senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz, Special Assistant for Poverty Alleviation Sania Nishtar, Mohsin Aziz, Dost Mohammad and Farzana have been included in the final list. The names of the remaining candidates are awaited.

Of the 104 Senate members, 52 will retire on March 11 after their six-year term ends, including four of eight senators from the former tribal district. Now that the tribal district has merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, these four seats cannot be filled, which would reduce the number of Senate seats to 100.

Senate elections will be held on March 3. In accordance with the election program issued by the KPU, candidates can submit their nomination papers on February 12 and 13, 2021 at the offices of their respective returning officers.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani People’s Party on Friday approved 14 candidates for Senate elections proposing the names of former prime ministers Yusuf Raza Gilani of Islamabad and Farhatullah Babar of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as joint candidates for the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

Based on the announcement of the Bilawal DPR, PPP proposed the names of Yusuf Raza Gilani and the PPP DPR Secretary General Syed Nayyar Bukhari.

The party approved the names of Senate Deputy Chairman Salim Mandviwalla, Senator Sherry Rehman, Jam Mehtab Dehar, Taj Haider and Shahdat Awan from Sindh in the general seats. Former Senate chairman Farooq Naek, and Dr Karim Khawaja have been selected as technocrats and Ms Palwasha Khan, Ms Khairul-nisa Mughal and Ms Rukhsana Shah (cover) for women’s seats.

The PPP approved the name Azeem ul Haq Minhas of Punjab, who is the son-in-law of former prime minister King Pervez Ashraf. However, the PPP has not nominated anyone from Balochistan, as it has no members in the Balochistan Assembly.

Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf will be the proponent and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will become Gilani’s second name. PML-N’s Parliamentary Council has finalized the names of five ticket holders for the Senate elections, party spokesman Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Friday.

Advocate Aazam Nazir Tarrar will represent PML-N in the Technocrat Chair in Punjab. The party approved the names of Pervez Rashid, Mushahidullah Khan and Professor Sajid Mir, while in the women’s chair Sadia Abbasi will represent the party.

Marriyum said PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would appoint the final contestant after consultation. Meanwhile, to the media in Multan, Friday, PDM Chairman Fazlur Rehman said JUI-F had no difference with Yusuf Raza Gilani.

He said the proposed long march in the federal capital would not be held for one day but for a long period of time. Fazl said he did not participate in Saturday’s PDM rally. He said the PDM had been in contact with other allies during the Senate elections. He said Imran Khan talked about open voting, but voting was always kept secret.

“Both the bribe giver and the bribe recipient belong to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI),” he said. He said the PDM could not accept a statement from the chairman of the NAB who added that they were pawns of the existing power.

He said the PDM was not afraid of arrest adding, “A meeting has been scheduled with Asif Zardari. I will go to the Zardari House to congratulate her daughter on her marriage”. The PDM head said people from all walks of life were fed up with the incumbent government.

“People at every level went to Islamabad to protest and to accept their demands. Violence against teachers in Islamabad is state terrorism, “he added. He said they were ordered to go to the constitutional body, and they were not heard.

Fazl fears cheating in Senate elections such as in the national and provincial assemblies. He said lately no talks were being held with Nawaz Sharif. Those who have never visited a madrasa do not know the purpose for which it was founded. Madrasas already exist; the rulers’ tactics will not work, he added.

The PDM follows the agreed action plan: PPP | Instant News

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said Wednesday that parties in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) are following an action plan agreed on September 20, 2020, which says that all options will be used to send the elected government and Prime Minister Imran. Khan is packing.

“The motion of no confidence is also part of the action plan and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has yet to come up with a new choice but ironically some people criticize this motion of no confidence,” said Shazia Atta Marri while speaking at a press conference. outside the Parliament Building in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Shazia Marri said that the action plan consists of a public meeting, public demonstrations, a motion of no confidence and the option to resign when all other options are exhausted. “PPP believes in the action plan and will do everything to overthrow the elected government and this puppet,” he said.

He said that the COVID-19 vaccine has been donated by friendly countries to Pakistan and the Pakistani government has not spent a cent on the vaccine. He said the government had no money to buy vaccines but had money to bribe members of the treasury to vote in the Senate elections. “The government buys its own members which is the equivalent of the government’s horse trade,” he said. Shazia’s Marriage says that this government has become a joke and this rule of comedians should be sent packing.

He said the Sindh government wanted to buy vaccines but the federal government didn’t give them permission because it was an anti-people government. “This government does not care about the Pakistani people,” he said, adding that this was flagrant hostility and hatred towards the province by the federal government.

Marriage Syazia said that Thursday’s PDM meeting would be very important. “PDM is holding a massive public meeting on the 9th of this month in Hyderabad,” he said. He said Punjab was in the hands of a rookie who was reportedly involved in land grabbing. “He patronizes land grabbing. Every Pakistani is sad to see Punjab being destroyed bit by bit by the hands of the puppets, ”he said, adding that the PTI was plagued by corruption.

In an answer to a question, he said that everyone has a secret democratic vote. Shazia Marri said the prime minister distributed money to his members and that meant pre-voting rigging in Senate elections. He asked why the Pakistani Election Commission was indifferent to this pre-voting fraud.

He said the chairman of the National Assembly ran Parliament very biased. “The speaker must know the rules and the constitution, but he acts as a PTI employee,” he said.

He said that this government was full of scandals. “All the thieves from sugar to flour, gasoline and LNG are around the elected prime minister,” he said. He said that President Asif Ali Zardari, Syed Khurshid Shah and Shahbaz Sharif had become victims. “There are still many cases being filed against the opposition and this corrupt government itself is involved in a huge and huge financial corruption,” he said.

He said PTI used to criticize the protocol and now that all this time the PTI government dog was being brought for rounds in the security protocol. He said PTI talked about dogs in Sindh and did not give vaccines for dog bites to Sindh. “Providing dog bite vaccines is the responsibility of the federal government,” he said.

Future PDM action line next week | Instant News

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will lay out a future line of action next week following the end of the ultimatum of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s resignation on January 31.

Sources told The News here on Wednesday that the PDM, on its board of party heads, will put its trust in the leadership of President Maulana Fazlur Rehman and reaffirm its position in September last year when an all-party conference (APC) formed the PDM. The source said PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and PPP supremo Asif Ali Zardari had assured Maulana that his party would take the final say given the PDM’s position on all national and political matters. They confirmed that Nawaz Sharif had asked Maryam Nawaz to follow the PDM’s point of view and that all decisions had to be taken with PDM in mind.

He appreciated the consultation process among the component party leaders by declaring it a healthy approach, said the source. The PDM head council will meet in Islamabad in the first week of February, which has been scheduled for February 4. But the possibility of holding it earlier cannot be ruled out as the top leadership will move to the capital city of Azad Kashmir on the same or next day to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people on Kashmir Day, the sources said. The party’s board of heads will discuss a proposal to cast a vote of no confidence against the prime minister, Punjab chief minister or the chairman of the National Assembly, which PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has extended. The main subjects before the board were proposals relating to the long march and its tentative schedule. The question of resigning from the assembly will continue to be discussed but certainly will not be the movement’s top priority, the source said. The source revealed that PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari will also address the council via video link.

The PDM will articulate its unified position on Spreadsheet fraud and issue extensive statements on the matter that include commission appointments under former school committee judges. PDM party leaders will also discuss developments in the PTI foreign funding case where the PDM held a demonstration outside the headquarters of the General Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on January 19. The PDM summit will also discuss future voting strategies in the 52-seat Senate, the source said. The PDM parties will also express their determination to maintain unity in their ranks because they believe that the party that abandoned the aims of the movement and split with it will be crushed in public opinion, the source added.
