Most people who have worked in open office plans may experience interference because they have to listen to their co-workers’ music, like it or not. So at least in terms of background noise, working from home might be an improvement for many professionals. If you have a good pair of noise canceling headphones (or are lucky enough to have an uninterrupted workspace,) you can set the scene for the perfect work day with music inspired by your favorite travels.

Traveling to … Aruba
Aruba playlists are perfect for mental escape during workdays

Many travelers may know Aruba only as one of the tropical islands mentioned in the universal taste-good song “Kokomo,” by the Beach Boys, but anyone who is there knows that it is a picture perfect paradise. And according to the Director of Sales & Marketing at Casino Aruba Resort Resort & Stellaris, Carolina Voullieme León, the Spotify Resort playlist is inspired by the idea of creating a “virtual way for everyone to enjoy our One Happy Island at any time.” Of course, “Kokomo” starts an island-themed playlist. “From there, we added some classic songs that really make you think of the Caribbean,” he said, “along with the song” Dushi Bida “by Jeon, which is sung in our local language Papiamento and means ‘sweet life.’
The spin list is rather short, so if you still feel the thrill of the island after you finish, consider setting it to “30 Minutes of Happiness,” a Youtube video from the Aruba Tourism Authority that displays the natural sights and sounds of the island. Think of it as the ambient sound of the island, perfect for playing in the background when you balance spreadsheets or check emails from home.

The sounds offered from Forest Park are perfect for meditation, reading and sleeping. The 1,300-acre city park is in the heart of the city and is home to the St. Zoo Louis, an art museum, a history museum and more. It has been a staple of recreation in the city since it opened in 1876, so understandably, wandering in its parks is an important part of every visit to Missouri. To please those who might think back lovingly while walking in the park, the team at Forest Park Forever made park sounds available through an online audio player. They capture sounds from some of the most popular park areas, such as the John F. Kennedy Memorial Forest and Prairie Boardwalk. You can even buy birdsong ringtones to support the park if you feel the sound is very comfortable.

Although in fact in Charlotte, North Carolina, the playlist of the new Leah & Louise restaurants is inspired by the Mississippi River Valley – as are all businesses. The restaurant currently only offers takeout and delivery, but owners Greg and Sabrina still want guests to get the full experience of being on the spot. That’s why they created a restaurant playlist to share with the world, allowing anyone who ordered can have the perfect background music to recreate the feeling of a restaurant at home. As you might expect from a southern playlist, there are performances from beloved artists like B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Northern Mississippi Allstars.

Traveling to … Monterey, California
There is much to see (and hear) on the coast of Monterey County

Monterey Bay California and the surrounding area have been popular destinations with musicians and artists since the beginning of the 20th century, so it’s not surprising that there is a lot of animal feed related to Monterey for more than a few playlists. The Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau has curated several Spotify ranks based on different experiences within the region. Although it’s a bit too early to know whether the Monterey Jazz Festival will occur in September, listeners who are itching to peek can listen to the Jazz Festival Playlist, with voices from Christian Sands and Mimi Fox, among others. If band and reggae jam is more suitable for you, press play on the California Roots Music & Arts Festival Playlist. Other playlists are based on songs from films filmed in Monterey County and songs that refer to destinations throughout the region. There’s even music from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which is designed to make you “sway like seaweed and bob like a jellyfish.” Sold.

Visit Mesa look to the community for inspiration for their 50 electric song playlist
Credit: Visit Mesa
If you are dreaming, imagine a wide open space and shades of pink and brown, see the Spotify playlist compiled by Visit Mesa as part of their “For the Love of Mesa” Campaign. Instead of choosing songs to remind listeners of Arizona’s goals, organizations instead make playlists of suggested songs from local businesses and community organizations. A 50-song playlist including artists ranging from Selena to The Talking Heads. Visit Mesa also collects photos from fans for potential use in the organization’s destination video, set to a newly written song entitled (what else?) “For Mesa Love.” The video will debut in May 2020.
