Pope Francis on Friday appointed Bishop Paul Martin, BC, as Archbishop of Coadjutor of Wellington Metropolitan Archdiocese, Bishop of NZ Martin has served as Bishop of Christchurch Diocese since 2018.

Bishop Paul was born in Hastings and was one of five children. He attended primary school at St Joseph’s in Hastings and secondary school at St John’s College.
In 1985 he entered the formation of the Society of Mary. In 1991 he spent time working in the Aboriginal Community in the Northern Territory, Australia. In 1993 he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Sacred Theology at Rome’s Angelicum University and studied to become a teacher.
After returning to New Zealand, Bishop Paul served as teachers, including St Bede’s College. In 2014, Bishop Paul was Assistant Provincial and Provincial Bursar for the Society of Marys, before serving as Bursar General in Rome.
Pope Francis appointed Paul Martin as Bishop of Christchurch on December 5, 2017. He was ordained a Bishop on March 3, 2018, and was appointed Bishop of Christchurch the following day.

Also on Friday, Pope Francis appointed Pastor Khalid Rehmat, OFM Cap., Who has served as Custodian of ‘Capuchin Custodian Mariam Siddeeqa’ in Pakistan.
Khalid Rehmat, was born on August 5, 1968 in Mianwali, Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese. Before entering religious life, he was a teacher at an elementary school.
He completed his priesthood formation at Sts Seminary College. Mary in Lahore, took her eternal vows on December 28, 2007.
He was ordained a priest on August 16, 2008.
After he was ordained a priest, he held the following positions: Assistant Rector of the Capuchin Friars Minor Development House in Lahore (2008-2011); teacher at St. Mary’s Secondary Seminary, at the formation house of the Franciscan Fathers (2008-2014) and at the Inter-Congregational Program, in Lahore (2010-2014); Coordinator of the Deputy Provincial Education Commission for the Capuchin Order Friars Minor in Pakistan (2011-2014); Editor of Catholic Naqeeb magazine (since 2013) and Member of the Consultant College of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lahore (2015-2017); Member of the Biblical Commission for the Archdiocese of Lahore (2016-2017); Coordinator of the Deputy Provincial Economic Commission of the Small Capuchin Order in Pakistan (2017-2020); Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Pastor in Adah, Sialkot, at the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lahore (2014-2020); and Members of the Provincial Council of the Capuchin Fathers, until October 2020.
Subsequently, he became Kustos of the Capuchin Order of Friars Minor in Pakistan.
