What Happened to the Kanye West Gap Collaboration? | Instant News

Remember Gap? The ever strong mall brand that produces durable denim and bases? Well, they came back again. Sort of.

Due to the decline caused by the pandemic, the mega-retailer was forced to close more than 300 stores across the United States, raising questions about the brand’s future. In August 2019, long before Gap’s announcement, a well-known retailer Barney’s declared their sudden bankruptcy, shocking the industry and marking a bleak future for brick and mortar stores. What followed was a sudden surge in struggling retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and now Gap.

Despite these challenges, Gap has announced its new “2023 Power Plan”, a comprehensive outline that includes striking changes to their distinctive business model. Included in the plan is a radical shift to online commerce, a change that many established retailers have struggled to adapt to since the start of the pandemic. The CEO of Gap also hopes to turn every customer into a “loyalist”, demonstrating an understanding of how many of the industry’s youngest and upcoming brands have been so successful in garnering a loyal customer base. Amid the restructuring of the entire brand, an exciting collaboration was announced in mid-July: Yeezy Gap.

A ten-year partnership between the two, Kanye West aims to create “basic modern necessities for men, women and children at affordable prices.” While not much else is known about the upcoming collaboration, West is leaving a cryptic message outside of the revamped Chicago Gap store. The message hints at his West roots and long history with Gap (he has worked as a sales associate and shopped a lot.) “Hey Chicago, this is you. This is [the] Gap shop I used to shop when I would drive my Nissan from the Southside very blessed I am grateful to God and I am so humble at the opportunity to serve I put my heart into the color palette and every detail I love the real Tron Do you like things which I don’t know what to do with my hands Love YEEZY. “

On top of the cryptic rumors, it was announced that Nigerian-born designer Mowalola Ogunlesi will spearhead the collaboration as creative director. Known for their boundary-breaking silhouettes, designer latex and PVC creations have garnered a huge following over the past few years. The announcement was a surprise, especially considering Mowalola’s high-octane aesthetic contrasts with Gap’s penchant for preppy styles (yes, they still sell chinos).

With Mowalola as creative director, Gap seems eager to capitalize on the hype surrounding Western fame and Ogunlesi’s rising profile. These brands focus their business efforts on managing exposure around attractive partnerships rather than relying on selling skinny jeans and t-shirts. With this unprecedented shift in consumers, buyers are spending their money differently than before. With important issues such as inclusiveness and sustainability, many are no longer walking into a store and buying a bunch of clothes. Craft, innovation and thought are needed for long-term success and Mowalola and West provide just that.

Although Mowalola and West are both known for their sexy and proactive designs, they carry a much-needed voice to the stagnation of brick and mortar retailers. Their upcoming collaboration will bring insurmountable fame to the Gap and will be sure to sell out instantly online. The duo is democratizing fashion in a way that will not only create fashion buzz but will also turn a staggering profit for the struggling conglomerate. Not only did West take over ready-to-wear clothes, West also redesigned certain Gap storefronts and interiors that are sure to attract more intrigue. Gap cleverly combines the world of mega-stars in the West, and the rise of fashion in Mowalola with affordable and affordable retail.

To celebrate Father’s Day, Kim Kardashian-West posted a family photo to Instagram, with her, Kanye, and North wearing a special Mowalola. Immediately recognizable, Mowalola’s signature color palette and sleek silhouette may be a glimpse of what to expect from the Yeezy Gap.

The growing collaboration fulfills West’s desire to reach the fashion masses through achievable and discreet designs. Unlike the artist’s eponymous line that is usually shown on the Paris catwalks, the upcoming release will have a structure more akin to a Nike drop than the Saks sales floor. And with Mowalola Ogunlesi’s slender eyes, this collaboration will be one for a long time.

Yeezy Gap will be introduced in the first half of 2021.

Why a junk food diet can increase the risk of heart disease | Instant News

Hamburgers, French fries, sugary sodas, and other unhealthy foods can cause inflammation, a key player in the formation of artery-clogging plaque.

Eating foods like red meat and sugary foods can trigger inflammation, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease. But a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and other anti-inflammatory foods reduces that risk, according to a large Harvard study.

“These new findings help explain why certain foods that we consider unhealthy can contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries,” said Dr. Kathryn Rexrode, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and co-author of the study, published last year in Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Inflammation is characterized by the release of molecules called cytokines into the bloodstream. This attracts immune cells to the artery walls, contributing to plaque development, he explained.
