“Wasim and Misbah met today and completed the list and handed it over to the chairman,” the source said.

He said the board wanted the players to feel comfortable and knew they would not be financially hurt by the ongoing global economic crisis.

Usually the board issues a new contract in July.

The source confirmed that new players such as Naseem Shah, Abid Ali and Mohammad Hasnain will be given new contracts to replace Wahab, Amir, Fakhar Zaman and several others such as Usman Shinwari and Hasan Ali.

“The idea is to encourage and reward new players who have done well for Pakistan and to keep some senior players without contracts because they don’t want to play Test cricket,” the source said.
