More than 80 pounds of cocaine, fentanyl confiscated at the Canadian-US border Sarnia: CBP – London | Instant News


U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said the officer found a few pounds narcotics in the cabin of a commercial tractor carrier.

In a statement issued Friday, CBP said officers were inspecting commercial trucks leaving from the United States and heading for Canada overnight at the Blue Water Bridge, which connects Port Huron, Michigan and Sarnia, Ontario.

They said around 2 am, a commercial ship was carrying shipments of flavoring syrup coming from California.

Drivers, Canadian nationals, are becoming increasingly nervous during taxi checks, according to CBP.

During inspections, more than 80 pounds of suspected cocaine and fentanyl were found, CBP said.

The driver was arrested by federal officials, and faces federal prosecution for the export of illegal drugs, according to CBP.

They say an investigation is ongoing.
