Famous bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan died early Friday morning due to cardiac arrest. She was 71.

Three-time winner of the national award, which put some of the most memorable songs in Hindi cinema, don’t hold up well for some time.

She was admitted to guru Nanak in Bandra on Saturday after she complained of breathing problems. Mandatory COVID-19 test taken at the hospital showed a negative result.

“She died from cardiac arrest around 2.30 am in the hospital,” the nephew of the Khan Manish Jagwani said PTI.

In a career spanning more than four decades, Khan is credited with the choreography more than 2,000 songs, including Dola Re Dola with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, EK Do Teen from Madhuri Dixit-purpose Profile tezaab and You Ishq Haaye from Jab We Met in 2007.

She last put on Tabaah Hogayewith Madhuri from Director Karan Johar production Kalank in 2019.

New Delhi:

Bollywood dance choreographer Saroj Khan was admitted to hospital on Saturday in Mumbai. According to the Agency PTI, the 71-year-old choreographer complained of breathing problem after which she was taken to guru Nanak hospital in Bandra. Said a source close to the family Saroj Khan PTI that COVID-19 test was done, which was negative. “She’s fine now and recovering. She had trouble breathing and was taken to the hospital. Her COVID-19 test was done, which was negative. She has no symptoms. She probably will be discharged in a day or two,” a source told PTI.

Saroj Khan, one of the most outstanding choreographers in the film industry, started her career as assistant choreographer to the dance sequences for the movie 1974 Geeta Mera Naam. Saroj Khan gained fame after she choreographed the dance of Sridevi on the song Hawa Hawaii in the movie 1987 Mr India. Saroj Khan has choreographed more than 2,000 songs to date. She is best known for her choreography for Evergreen songs such as EK Do Teen from Profile tezaab, Dola Re from Devdas, Yeh Ishq Haaye Services from Jab We Met and much more. Her most recent choreography for theatrical release was a dance Madhuri Dixit song Tabaah Hogaye in the film 2019 Kalank.

Saroj Khan has won three national awards for best choreography for her work in Devdas, Jab We Met in 2007 Tamil film Shringaram. She has also appeared as a judge in various dance reality TV shows such as Nach Baliye, Dirty Dikhhla JAA and Nachle Ve With Saroj Khan.
