The US recorded more than 63,000 new cases of corona virus, Brazil reached 28,000 in 24 hours | Instant News


KUWAIT – The United States recorded more than 63,000 new cases of corona virus in the last 24 hours while new Brazilian cases reached 28,000 in the last 24 hours.

More than 14.3 million people have been reported infected by the new corona virus globally and 600,497 people have died from COVID-19, according to a Reuters count published on Sunday.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and regions since the first case was identified in China in December 2019.

According to Johns Hopkins University, up to 63,698 new cases and 853 new deaths were registered in the US in the last 24 hours. The calculation shows that the total cases nationally reached 3,711,413 and 140,119 deaths.

In Brazil, the Ministry of Health reported 28,532 new corona virus cases and 912 new deaths bringing the country’s total to more than 2.07 million and 78,772 deaths. The US and Brazil are ranked first and second globally in cases and corona virus deaths.

In New Delhi, Indian health authorities said on Sunday that 543 people had died in the past 24 hours due to COVID-19 and 38,902 new cases registered throughout the country.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest update that he died of coronavirus infection so far in the country rose to 26,816 cases while the overall positive case jumped to 1,077,618.

250 Pakistanis prepare to fly to Lahore from Riyadh | Instant News

JEDDAH – The Pakistani Embassy here has facilitated the repatriation of 250 stranded Pakistani citizens who will fly from Riyadh to Lahore on special PIA flights on Thursday.

Priority is given to Pakistanis who are traveling for reasons of emergency, medical problems, those who have expired iqama and past visitor visas. Also on the list are those who come out late and lay off workers.

This will be the second repatriation flight from Riyadh since the suspension of air operations in the Kingdom on March 15 due to a coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

The first flight departs for Islamabad on May 1.

Speaking to Pakistanis who had gathered at the embassy site to buy plane tickets, Ambassador Raja Ali Ejaz underlined that the embassy took all possible steps for the welfare, security and return of Pakistanis earlier than the Kingdom.

The Ambassador also thanked them for their understanding and cooperation during these difficult times, said Arshad Munir, Consular (Press), at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah.

KSrelief distributes food baskets in Hadramout, Sudan & Pakistan | Instant News


MUKALLA / KHARTOUM / LAHORE – The King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Relief Center (KSrelief) continued its ongoing operations in distributing Ramadan food baskets in Hadramout, Sudan and Pakistan on Friday.

Aid organizations distributed 1,200 Ramadan food baskets, weighing 88 tons and 880 kg, to needy and poorest families in a number of Hadramout governors’ directors, Yemen, in collaboration with the Charity Coalition for Humanitarian Aid.

This effort came within the framework of a food basket distribution plan for affected families because preventive measures limited movement and stopped the activities of several sectors to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

In Khartoum, KSrelief continued the distribution of Ramadan food baskets in Sudan in collaboration with the Alegtinam Human Development Organization, where 600 food baskets were distributed in the cities of Sana and Mount Moya in the state of Sennar, benefiting 3,600 people.

This effort is part of a project to distribute 38,211 food baskets during the blessed Ramadan in the Republic of Sudan

In Lahore, the aid agency continued for the 15th day in a row, the distribution of Ramadan food baskets in the Punjab province in collaboration with relevant authorities in the Pakistani government.

This group continues to provide assistance to their beneficiaries while complying with all precautions taken by the government to prevent the spread of the corona virus.

Around 1,263 food baskets were distributed to needy and poorest families, benefiting 7,578 people in the Punjab province, including 624 food baskets weighing 21 tons in the Lahore region benefiting 3,744 people.

In addition the agency provided 300 10-ton food baskets in Bahawel Najr benefiting 1,800 people and 339 11-ton food baskets in the Raheem Yar Khan area which benefited 2,034 people, bringing the total number of food baskets distributed since the first day to 18,854 baskets .

This effort came as part of a humanitarian assistance project and assistance provided by Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to Pakistan during the blessed Ramadan.
