KUWAIT – The United States recorded more than 63,000 new cases of corona virus in the last 24 hours while new Brazilian cases reached 28,000 in the last 24 hours.
More than 14.3 million people have been reported infected by the new corona virus globally and 600,497 people have died from COVID-19, according to a Reuters count published on Sunday.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and regions since the first case was identified in China in December 2019.
According to Johns Hopkins University, up to 63,698 new cases and 853 new deaths were registered in the US in the last 24 hours. The calculation shows that the total cases nationally reached 3,711,413 and 140,119 deaths.
In Brazil, the Ministry of Health reported 28,532 new corona virus cases and 912 new deaths bringing the country’s total to more than 2.07 million and 78,772 deaths. The US and Brazil are ranked first and second globally in cases and corona virus deaths.
In New Delhi, Indian health authorities said on Sunday that 543 people had died in the past 24 hours due to COVID-19 and 38,902 new cases registered throughout the country.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest update that he died of coronavirus infection so far in the country rose to 26,816 cases while the overall positive case jumped to 1,077,618.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, New Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, Assam and Bihar are among the countries worst affected. The government has asked people, the government and local authorities to take all necessary precautions, adding that guidelines in the detention zone must be strictly adhered to.
In Geneva, Switzerland said that 99 new cases of the corona virus were counted, pushing the country’s count to 33,591 so far. The country’s death toll from infection remained unchanged at 1,688, the Swiss Ministry of Health said in a press release.
The Swiss health team has carried out a total of 726,000 COVID-19 strokes since last February, the ministry added. Switzerland has witnessed an increase in the number of cases after loosening most of the restrictions, prompting authorities to restrict the entry of travelers from countries deemed “unsafe.”
Meanwhile, Mexico’s Ministry of Health on Saturday reported 7,615 new confirmed coronavirus infections and 578 additional deaths, bringing the total in the country to 338,913 cases and 38,888 deaths.
