PESHAWAR – President of the Sarhad Engr Maqsood Anwar Pervaiz Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday called on the government to suspend industrial and commercial consumer electricity and gas bills for at least three months.
Addressing a meeting with industrialists, traders and shop owners via the video link here, the head of the SCCI appreciates the government for delaying payment of domestic consumer electricity and gas bills for the next three months, which will surely provide relief for the corona virus that is beaten by the poor masses. Maqsood Pervaiz said industrial and commercial activities had been completely suspended because it was locked in the country as a preventative measure to curb the spread of the new corona virus.
He said the business community faces financial challenges and other problems due to the cessation of industrial and commercial activities, and urged the government to delay paying their electricity and gas bills, and paying them in installments.
The SCCI president also urged his government to immediately free small traders from all federal and provincial taxes, in addition to giving them loans without interest. Leases from the district government and Auqaf property must also be written off for at least one year, he demanded.
