Capsule preview game exhibition | NHL.com | Instant News

This is the first game played since March 12, the day the NHL stopped the regular season due to concerns about coronavirus.

The match between the 12 Western Conference teams will take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, and the Eastern Conference team will play at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Competition, whether related to geography or recent playoff history, determines the majority of 12 matches.

“It’s just like entering a competitive situation against another team,” the center of Toronto’s Maple Leafs Auston Matthews said about their match against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. “We have just stepped into it, this is not like an ordinary pre-season where you have four or five matches to complete. We just want to start the match tomorrow.”

The following is the appearance of each game:

Tuesday

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers (4 pm ET; NBCSN, NBCSP +, ATTSN-PT, NHL.TV) – Penguins hope to have a captain Sidney Crosby back. The center resumed training Monday in Toronto after missing since July 18. They are also looking for clarity about the keeper as an old player Matt Murray and challenger Tristan Jarry battle for the role of beginners. For Philadelphia, goalkeeper Carter Hart missed two days of training last week but will play two periods against Penguins.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens (8:00 ET; NHLN, SN1, TVAS, NHL.TV) – Two Original Six teams renew their competition to prepare for Qualification. For Montreal, go forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi has had a stronghold and is looking to regain his place in the lineup after spending much of the season with Laval of the American Hockey League. For Toronto, the forward is 18 years old Nicholas Robertson has become a revelation and topped the lineup. Coach Sheldon Keefe said he wanted to see what Robertson was doing against the NHL opposition.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Calgary Flames (22:30 ET; NHLN, SN, NHL.TV) – The Battle of Alberta will be the perfect way for these teams to increase speed, introduce a little familiarity and emotion ready to use. Each team must decide to start the goalkeeper. Mike Smith (19-12-6, 2.95 goals-compared to the average, 0.902 saving percentage) and Mikko Koskinen (18-13-3, 2.75 GAA, 0.917 saves a percentage) each must see action for Oilers. For Calgary, David Rittich (24-17-6, 2.97 GAA, .907 saving percentage) and Cam Talbot (12-10-1, 2.63 GAA, 0.919 percentage storage) is expected to divide the time. Calgary is looking for a replacement to replace it Travis Hamonic, who opted out of the Return to Play NHL Plan.

Wednesday

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Florida Panthers (Noon ET; NHLN, FS-F, SUN, NHL.TV) – Up Steven Stamkos and defenseman Victor Hedman Will not play for Lightning. Stamkos has a lower body injury, and his hope is that he will be ready before the qualifying round. Hedman remains in Tampa to handle personal matters and is expected to join Lightning on Friday. For Florida, the best defender Aaron Ekblad, who missed the last two exercises at the training camp, skated Monday but didn’t want to play. Coach Joel Quenneville said on Monday that Ekblad would be ready for Qualification. Forwards Aleksi Saarela has been a revelation for Panther during the training camp.

Colorado vs Minnesota Wild Avalanche (14:30 ET; NHLN, FS-N, FS-WI, NHL.TV) – All eyes will be on the status of Colorado going forward Nathan MacKinnon and defenseman Cale Makar. Each of them cannot train towards the end of the training camp but returns on Saturday for the final session before heading to Edmonton. MacKinnon, who scored 93 points (35 goals, 68 assists) in 69 matches, was a finalist for the Hart Trophy as the NHL MVP, and Makar, who scored 50 points (12 goals, 38 assists), was a finalist for Calder Trophy as the NHL rookie of the year. this. For Wild, who will play in goal is their biggest question. Coach Dean Evason said each of the four goals on the list had chances, but the battle was likely between Alex Stalock (20-11-4, 2.67 GAA, .910 saves percentage) and Devan Dubnyk (12-15-2, 2.96 GAA, .890 saving percentage).

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Washington Capitals (4 pm ET; NBCSN, FS-CR, NHL.TV) – A battle between teams facing off in the Eastern Conference First Round at the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoff, when Hurricanes infuriated the Capital in seven games, this game should bring instant emotions. There are also questions that must be answered. Who will be the backup goalkeeper for the Capitals behind Braden Holtby now that Ilya Samsonov has been ruled out because of the postseason? Will Pheonix Copley or Vitek Vanecek ? Each spent the entire season with Hershey on the AHL. Also, will we expand the view going forward Connor McMichael and defenseman Alexander Alexeyev ? Each is a selection of the first round recently entered on a 31-person list. Carolina needs to sort out her plans in the defenseman case Dougie Hamilton not ready for Qualification. Trade-acquisition defensement Sami Vatanen and Brady Skjei each must get a long look in this game.

St. Louis Blues vs Chicago Blackhawks (18:30 ET; NBCSN, NHLN, NBCSP-CH +, FS-MW +) – Goalkeeper Blackhawks Corey Crawford will be the focus of this Central Division rival’s fight. Crawford (16-20-3, 2.77 GAA, .917 saves percentage) missed everything except the last day of the training camp because of a positive COVID-19 test. He played 20 minutes in Saturday’s game, and his hope is to bring him to this game. Forwards Vladimir Tarasenko expected to play for the Blues, his first match action since undergoing surgery on his left shoulder in October.

New York Islanders vs. New York Rangers (8 pm ET; NBCSN, TVAS, MSG, MSG +) – Every team has a decision to make a goalkeeper. Islander coach Barry Trotz said he could not go wrong with whatever decision he made and planned to use Semyon Varlamov (19-14-6, 2.62 GAA, .914 saves percentage) and Thomas Greiss (16-9-4, 2.74 GAA, .913 saves percentage) in this game. Rangers have used three goals this season: Igor Shesterkin, Henrik Lundqvist and Alexandar Georgiev. Shesterkin (10-2-0, 2.52 GAA, .932 saves percentage) is believed to have a deep path to start in the qualifying series against Hurricanes, but this could be the final audition for the challengers.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets (22:30 ET; NHLN, SN, NHL.TV) – Each team has quite a number of players and is relatively healthy. Finalist of the Calder Trophy Quinn Hughes, who has 53 points (eight goals, 45 assists) in 68 matches for the Canucks, has a strong stronghold, and it will be interesting to see how much the defender has improved since March. Connor Hellebuyck (31-21-5, 2.57 GAA, .222 saving percentage), a finalist of the Vezina Trophy as the best goalkeeper in the NHL, will be the goalkeeper for the Jets against Wild, but Laurent Brossoit (6-7-1, 3.28 GAA, .895 saves a percentage) might get some work because he missed the first four days of the training camp.

Thursday

Nashville Predators vs Dallas Stars (4 pm ET; NHLN, FS-SW, FS-TN, NHL.TV) – Predators are trying to decide whether Pekka Rinne (18-14-4, 3.17 GAA, .895 saving percentage) or Hair Saros (17-12-4, 2.70 GAA, .914 save percentage) will be their goalkeeper. Coach John Hynes said on Monday that each would play at least one period against the Stars. For Dallas, the big question is what to do Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. Dallas’s top two scorers are on separate paths for most training camps, but the attackers reunite on Sunday with Seguin as the center and Denis Gurianov other wing.

Boston Bruins vs. Columbus Blue Jackets (19:00 ET; NHLN, TVAS, NESN, FS-O, NHL.TV) – Will David Pastrnak play for the Bruins in this game, a rematch of the 2019 playoff second round? The attacker, who scored 95 points (48 goals, 47 assists) in 70 matches, trained with the Bruins for the first time Monday after he was “unfit to participate” throughout the training camp. Coach Bruce Cassidy said he had a preliminary round of qualifications to accelerate Pastrnak, but the more iterations he could get the No. No. 1 of them (Pastrnak with the center Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand), better. It will be interesting to see what a healthy Columbus looks like. Among those who returned was defenseman Seth Jones and forward Cam Atkinson. Each has not been played since February 8.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Arizona Coyotes (10 nights ET; NHLN, FS-A PLUS, NHL.TV) – What is the status of Max Pacioretty? The top six attackers have been absent in the last four days at the training camp. His presence will reduce fears about juggling lines for round-robins. For Arizona, defender number 1 Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who have 30 points (nine goals, 21 assists) in 66 matches, must be available after injury during training on Friday. Coach Rick Tocchet suggested he would use each of his two goals in the tournament, and it looks like we’ll see it Darcy Kuemper (16-11-2, 2.22 GAA, .928 saving percentage) and Antti Raanta (15-14-3, 2.63 GAA, .921 save percentage) play against the Golden Knight.

The top 8 cancel autumn sports; Non-conference games possible | Instant News

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – With schools in Wisconsin who are still trying to find out how they will handle academic classes in the coming school year, the Big 8 Conference has canceled all conference schedules for all fall sports.

“Because all member schools cannot participate fully in the conference contest during the current fall as scheduled, the Big 8 Conference competition will not be held and the conference champions will not be named,” the conference stated in Tuesday’s release, noting that the decision passed unanimously.

Even though their conference game was scratched, some Big 8 schools might still have a chance to play. Schools can still schedule non-conference games, provided they stick to the guidelines set by WIAA and local public health officials, conference officials explained.

He noted that as long as schools were closed in each district, he would prohibit practice or direct training or any practice with trainers, which was in line with how they handled the spring semester. Virtual training and exercises will be permitted, as long as district policies permit it.

“All schools will be supported in their local decisions and may have the option to schedule non-conference competitions in any fall sports, provided they follow the guidelines of the WIAA and local public health officials,” they said.

The public high school athletics association is still determining how it will handle season rules and start dates, said Big 8. Schools will then be able to draw up their plans for athletic and extracurricular activities.

“The Big 8 conference supports the fact that athletic-based education is a privilege, not a right, which requires an additional level of responsibility for those who manage them and serve as partners in athlete-student education,” he said.

Big 8 plans to stay in touch with state and local health agencies and to provide the latest information on the athletic status of the conference after the next scheduled meeting on August 17.

Forward Madison FC announces 2020 schedule reduced to 16 matches Soccer | Instant News

The Madison Forward schedule includes home and away matches against six teams that have competed in the league this season – North Texas, Greenville, Union Omaha, New England Revolution II, FC Tucson and Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.

The Flamingos, who recovered from a bad start to the 2019 season to make a playoff with a 12-9-7 record, played one street match at Richmond and Fort Lauderdale CF in 2020 and one home match against South Georgia and Orlando City B.

“Usually when you talk about the football season you always talk in this case is a marathon, not a fast run. That has changed. Now it’s a sprint, “Forward Madison coach Daryl Shore said. “It’s 16 matches, the top two teams play for the championship. There is no bad start, knowing that you have time in the middle of the season or the end of the season to make it up. “

Forward Madison previously announced that the home game for 2020 is at Hart Park Wauwatosa because Dane County’s health restrictions prevented the team from playing at Breese Stevens Field. Play at home while the team will have limited capacity due to distance requirements.

Changing places and dates is one of the complications in developing schedules, said USL vice president of communications Ryan Madden. The scheduling team led by senior vice president of operations Brett Luy also balanced a surprising period of rest and home and away matches during the two months of planning.

Big Sky Conference dropped four matches from men’s and women’s basketball schedules | Big Sky Sports Conference | Instant News

“I think this is a good and wise step to reduce the cost of the road sides of men and women,” Haslam said. “You know you will miss the trip and free that weekend in December is good.”

Montana and Montana State are both likely to lose expensive trips. Geographical proximity will be one of the criteria that will help determine the six opposing teams that will play twice and which one they will play once.

Idaho, Idaho State, Weber State and Eastern Washington all seem to be the team that Grizzlies and Bobcats will face twice.

“Entering this year we are ready to adapt to changes. “Although we are disappointed because we don’t have the complete Big Sky schedule, I understand as a conference that we need to consider ways to save money for this year’s budget,” Montana State women’s basketball coach Tricia Binford said in a university release. ” I am grateful that the Big Sky Tournament has not been affected and as a team we will focus on what we can control and take advantage of every opportunity to compete. “

Big Sky’s composite schedule hasn’t been released. Haslam said that both Montana’s male head coach Travis DeCuire and female coach while Michael Petrino were still working on their non-conference whiteboard.

Among classes that end on Thanksgiving next fall instead of running into December and now an extra-open weekend, the hope for many schools is that they will try to schedule additional home games or find cash games that are guaranteed to fill slots.

Now, it seems that 21-year-old Haney has taken advantage of this and joined Mayweather for a session at his iconic gym in Las Vegas.

American couples are friends Floyd supports Haney during the controversy last month.

Explaining the steps of his new career, Mayweather said: “As you know, I have an extraordinary coach who includes my father and uncle.

“Because of my recent Uncle Roger departure, I feel inspired to help the people around me in the same way as when they were there during my boxing career.

“In a time where we have to distance ourselves from others, it has allowed me to reflect on how I want to make a difference in people’s lives and help them achieve their goals.

“A true coach wants the best from their fighters and pushes them to their best.

“I just helped people practice because I was always on the other side of the gloves. A warrior can be impressive at mitt work, but that doesn’t make him a great fighter.

“I want to leave an impression on the people around me and let them see their potential.

“This quarantine period allows me to see the importance of unity and help others grow.

“I want to do my part on this Earth and allow people to see their potential so they can share it with the world.

“I am new to training and so far I have worked with people without boxing experience, so we grew up together.

“But I promise, I will be one of the best coaches in the world. Inspire and be inspired “

McLaren explains what has changed for Daniel Ricciardo to join in 2021 | Instant News

“We are a moving team and I think he will help take us to the next level”

McLaren boss Zak Brown spoke exclusively with Craig Slater of Sky Sports News about a dramatic transfer week in F1, with Carlos Sainz going to Ferrari in 2021 and Daniel Ricciardo replacing him.

McLaren boss Zak Brown spoke exclusively with Craig Slater of Sky Sports News about a dramatic transfer week in F1, with Carlos Sainz going to Ferrari in 2021 and Daniel Ricciardo replacing him.

McLaren boss Zak Brown believes Daniel Ricciardo is now confident of the team’s progress and future prospects, two years after rejecting it.

The Woking team identified Ricciardo, the seven-time grand prix winner, as the man who replaced Carlos Sainz so clearly that the Spaniard might move to Ferrari.

McLaren held talks with Ricciardo when the Australian was last in the final year of the contract two years ago, but Australia instead chose to move to Renault from Red Bull. At the end of the 2018 season, Renault finished in promising fourth place with points almost double that of McLaren.

But after a turnaround in their respective fates in 2019, when McLaren took the fourth on a comfortable margin and signed several key agreements – including the supply of Mercedes engines for 2021 – Brown believed Ricciardo had bought into their long-term plans.

“Getting a grand prix winner like Daniel is clearly a sign that we are going in the right direction,” Brown, McLaren’s chief executive told Sky Sports. “He believes that.

“We chased him a few years ago before he decided not to join us. I have talked to him ever since and he said ‘you came out of a very bad season’ – which made him politely – ‘but there is also a lot of this that we will do to rebuild the teams’.

1:20
Speaking on The F1 Show, 2009 world champion Jenson Button said his former McLaren team had made the right choice by signing Daniel Ricciardo.

Speaking on The F1 Show, 2009 world champion Jenson Button said his former McLaren team had made the right choice by signing Daniel Ricciardo.

“I haven’t brought Andreas Seidl or James Key or restructured the leadership team. So there are lots of promises and, out of a bad season, I can see how he will go ‘oh, let’s see how this plays outside’.”

But, two years later, Brown said: “He likes how it is played, I like how it is played. He sees the changes we have made, the leadership that Andreas brings, the support we have from our shareholders, walking into the Mercedes engine, we is a moving team and I think he will help take us to the next level. “

McLaren is excited about Ricciardo and Norris

Although McLaren appreciated Sainz, and believed the Spaniard would prosper next to Charles Leclerc at Ferrari, Brown was delighted by the arrival of an upcoming Ricciardo driver – one of the most established and high-profile racers on the grid.

“I think he’s really worth it otherwise we won’t do it. What was reported [on wages] inaccurate, but he is a very well paid driver. I think he’s worth it, “Brown insisted.

“He won seven Grands Prix, and I think in the right car he could win the championship immediately.

“He is selling well from a commercial point of view. He is a very interesting racer and I think the combination between him and Lando will be amazing, they will become a fan favorite on and off the track.

“If I look back at McLaren’s history, it’s been a long time since we don’t have one or two world champions in the team, and don’t have Grands Prix winners on the team. I think that is definitely a step forward for us on our journey to having Grand Prix winners in our team. “

15 Possible College Football Games If There Is No Pac-12 Season | Instant News

What might happen if Pac-12 doesn’t play non-conference games – or doesn’t play football at all – and if California schools don’t reopen this fall? Here are 15 ideas for college football matches to fill in the blanks.

Contact / Follow @ColFootballNews & @PeteFiutak

With the announcement by the California State University system that there might not be private classes in the fall, and with the University of California system likely to do the same, what happens if various schools decide to cancel all athletics and not have a college football season?

Or, what happens if Pac-12 finds a way for all members to play, but decides to go with an 11-game conference schedule instead? What happens to all the big matches against big teams on various boards?

Suddenly, several athletic departments across the country will scramble to fill the gaps – some are supposed to be looking to fill their schedules now.

We have tried to come up with ideas how the Pac-12 season looks if it plays an 11-match schedule with only the conference team, but what happens to schools on non-conference schedules?

Let’s play the role of section athletics director and matchmaker and produce the best game if there is no Pac-12 season of Pac-12 college football and / or if all California schools choose not to have athletics if they do all their classes on line.

Let’s start with a few big assumptions.

1 The idea that there will be no football if students don’t return to campus applies. If everyone really tries to overcome the problem, it is possible to test players, quarantine them at athletic facilities for several months, ask them to take online courses like everyone else, and then play in a limited way. However, it all seems impossible.

2 Other schools throughout the country will actually have students on campus and will play college football. That’s a big jump – it’s not just going to be a California school that puts crap on people’s classes in the fall. But let’s assume – for now – that it’s all system-going for everyone.

3 This assumes that there will be no Pac-12 football season, or there will be no matches without a conference. All 15 of the potential battles listed below exclude Pac-12 teams and also assume no Fresno State, San Diego State, and San Jose State. The last three are Mountain West schools at California State University System. UCLA and Cal are in the University of California system.

Got all that?

Basically, here are 15 potential ideas for a college football fight if Pac-12 and three California Mountain West schools end up not playing college football for the 2020 season.

Obviously not all this can happen considering Alabama, for example, only needs to fill in just one match on September 5. This is a possibility to play around.

Ohio State 2020, Preview in 60 seconds

15. State of Ohio vs. Toledo (in Cleveland), September 12

Current Scheduled Games
The State of Ohio in Washington, September 12
The State of San Diego in Toledo, September 12

Here’s the problem – Pac-12ers currently don’t have an interesting non-conference game on September 12 other than the date of the State of Ohio in Oregon. Houston will be available – there is no match against Washington State – and UNLV and Hawaii will play, but … well. Toledo is supposed to host the State of San Diego. Rocket and Buckeyes can meet in Cleveland to get good money for both parties.

14. State of North Dakota at TCU, September 5

Current Scheduled Games
The state of North Dakota in Oregon, September 5
TCU at Cal, 5 September

The main problem here – and the NCAA might have to relax a bit if this is important when it comes to the suitability of the bowl – is that TCU will start the season with two matches against FCS schools. It will start against Bison, and then play Prairie View A&M.

13. Hawaii at Notre Dame, 28 November

Current Scheduled Games
Hawaii in the State of San Diego, November 28
Notre Dame at USC, November 28

This is a no brainer. Notre Dame avoids road games – which might be important in a big way; more about that later on this list – and Hawaii has to fly a little further. The last two were played at the 2008 Hawaii Bowl – Ireland’s 49-21 victory – and it will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two. Notre Dame 3-0.

12. BYU at Texas Tech, September 19

Current Scheduled Games
BYU at Arizona State, September 19
Arizona at Texas Tech, September 19

This is easy. BYU planes will fly a little further east to Lubbock, not Tempe. Texas Tech will be happy to take this deal with the Big 12 season which starts next week against Iowa State on the road. This will be the second all-time meeting between the two – BYU could finally take revenge for the defeat of 21-20 in 1940.

11. BYU at Penn State, 19 September

Current Scheduled Games
BYU at Arizona State, September 19
State of San Jose at Penn State, September 19

This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools – the last being won by BYU 30-17 in 1992 – and it’s probably the most likely of the September 19 options for Penn State. BYU is supposed to play the road game, and Nittany Lions won’t be too interested in going on the road to play anyone. There will be battles for battles that might be other Penn State, like …

10. Texas Tech at Penn State, September 19

Current Scheduled Games
Arizona at Texas Tech, September 19
State of San Jose at Penn State, September 19

No team wants to give up in a home match and later the concession must be given to the school that is traveling. Penn State will come from a trip to Virginia Tech and start the Big Ten season the following week against Northwestern – there’s no chance he wants to move to Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders will play at Alabama State the previous week, but must go to Iowa State to start the Big 12 season the following week.

This will be the second meeting between the two – Penn State won 24-23 to start the 1995 season.

9. BYU at Texas A&M, September 19

Current Scheduled Games
BYU at Arizona State, September 19
Colorado at Texas A&M, September 19

BYU will be the most coveted team on September 19 because they only exchange road games for other road games. Texas A&M won’t want to travel, and this makes it easy.

Both teams were 2-2 against each other with the last meeting winning 41-37 Cougar at the Pigskin Classic to start the 1996 season.

8. Texas Tech at Texas A&M, September 19

Current Scheduled Games
Arizona at Texas Tech, September 19
Colorado at Texas A&M, September 19

The politics to make this game run is almost impossible, but the fight will be very fun.

Two former Big 12 / Southwest Conference rivals first started playing in 1927 and last faced in 2011 – the Texas A&M 45-40 victory.

In a perfect world, the two meet in the middle and play at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, but 1) Texas A&M will play against Arkansas there the following week and 2) there is no chance the A&M will travel to Lubbock with three of the next four matches from College Station, and 3) Texas Tech might not want to give A&M home games.

7. State of North Dakota in Michigan, September 5

Current Scheduled Games
The state of North Dakota in Oregon, September 5
Michigan in Washington, September 5

Realistically, this is the most likely of all possible North Dakota States on September 5. Not only does Michigan not have another match against the FCS team on schedule, but it can also swap street games in Washington for home games.

Of course, against FCS national champion Bison, be careful what you want.

6. TCU in Michigan, September 5

Current Scheduled Games
TCU at Cal, 5 September
Michigan in Washington, September 5

Which school is fun with road games? This will be the first meeting between the two schools, and Michigan will not have real beef traveling to Fort Worth considering it will play Ball State the following week. TCU has Prairie View A&M to follow, and then a week off – maybe it will be the person who travels.

George Russell had to finish five seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc to win the Virtual Spanish GP after taking a time penalty, but Leclerc himself was sentenced to three seconds on the last lap, giving the Williams driver the first F1 victory on the Williams driver

There was the latest drama at the Virtual Spanish GP as a final penalty for Charles Leclerc gave George Russell an unlikely victory over his F1 rivals.

The pair struggled throughout the online race Sunday night around the Barcelona Circuit de Catalunya but it looks like Leclerc, the star of Ferrari, will seal another eSports victory when Russell is given a three-second penalty for cutting corners.

But when Russell tried to build a sizeable gap above his rival, Leclerc was slapped with the same penalty in the second round to give the young Briton his first Virtual GP victory – in dramatic circumstances.

“I am very happy,” said Russell, who was impressed in his rookie season with defender Williams last season. “I’m not used to this victory thing – I haven’t done it in a long time. I really miss it.

“When I passed Charles and I knew I was sentenced to 3s, I was very angry. But when the radio message came at the end … I almost wet myself!”

Leclerc, who was denied his third win in the series, commented: “It’s a shame. But George is very fast, I knew it from the start.”

Alex Albon, Leclerc’s main rival in the previous two races for Red Bull, also looked competing, but chose a different strategy from Russell and Leclerc with two steps and was fourth – behind former F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez.

Teammate at Williams, Nicholas Latifi, is fifth, with Sky F1 driver Anthony Davidson sixth – ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi of Alfa Romeo.

Thibaut Courtois is the fastest among footballers – Real Madrid goalkeeper rising in 12th place – but only two places ahead of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero on his Virtual F1 debut.

Golfer Ian Poulter and Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo supported the pitch, with Lando Norris retiring from the race completely.

The Story of Russell vs Leclerc

Russell’s victory was a comeback in more ways than one. Champion F2 2018 secured the pole position which was rather surprising, but dropped back to fifth on the opening lap. However, he did not have a nightmare as big as Norris, who started 13th but soon fell behind the pitch, and quit the session afterwards.

Russell, meanwhile, remained patient. He followed Leclerc’s one-stop strategy and kept the Ferrari star in his view throughout the race, with Albon, his main rival, pitting early on medium tires and then, adversity.

In the search for critical time when he tried to hunt down Leclerc, Russell too often took advantage of the boundary trajectory, much to his disappointment. But after overtaking Leclerc with extraordinary and taking a more clever line through the bend, he teased Leclerc because of errors in his own race costs.
