Another Bankruptcy For German BBS Wheels When Changing 50. | Instant News

Formula One and Indycar BBS GmbH supplier filed for bankruptcy protection in Germany today for the third time in 13 years, ahead of the 50th anniversary.

The contract is to supply wheels for the whole of next year Nascar Cup Series The field is not believed to be risky, with BBS buying it from its main Formula One supplier, Japan Washibeam.

BBS, which made poster wheels for every race fan and sports car in the 1990s, has brought several world-famous racers to victory everywhere from Le Mans and Indianapolis to Formula One.

They are the aftermarket wheels of choice for generations of performance car owners and are made of poster wheels for every race fan and sports car in the 1990s.

Famous for the invention of the three-piece racing wheel and cross-pattern, BBS GmbH announced its bankruptcy on his website today, described it as “an important step to prevent impending bankruptcy”.

Blame the problem on Coronavirus pandemic, BBS claimed to find itself in financial difficulties due to “sudden disappearance of confirmed payments.”

This is not new territory for BBS, which declared bankruptcy in 2007 as well, before being rescued by Belgium’s Punch International, and then declared bankrupt again in 2011 before being taken over by South Korea, Nice Corp.

BBS wheels are found in road cars from Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota, Volvo, Lexus, Jaguar, Infiniti, Rolls-Royce and Subaru.

It once dominated the wheels of high-end performance cars, including the Ferrari F40, Lexus IS-F and a countless number of Porsches.

The market slowdown that came with the Covid-19 pandemic forced the BBS to close its two production plants, causing bankruptcy filings in court at Rottweil (yes, like a dog).

“Because it can be traced to the current difficult market environment in the automotive branch, the BBS situation worsened further due to Corona (sic) -Lockdown which caused a temporary halt to production at both BBS factories,” the company statement read.

“However, the main message we want to convey to you is that BBS production continues to run – the supply of all our OE and AM customers with BBS wheels is secured!

“Before bankruptcy, BBS had embarked on an extensive turnaround strategy for the entire company. This new strategy is based on the BBS AM wheel as the focal point will be continued under the guidance of the bankrupt administrator. “

One of its two administrators, Thomas Oberle, was here before with BBS, who had been appointed as administrator of BBS International GmbH in 2011, before BBS became BBS GmbH.
