KARACHI: A whopping 52 goals were scored on the opening day of the 13th National Women’s Football Championship in the metropolis, with Masha United and Karachi United Football Club (KUFC) winning their match by a margin of 19 goals while WAPDA beat Gilgit 14-0.
The match between Hazara women’s football academy and Quetta Hazara Women FC ended in a goalless draw.
Pakistani midfielder Zulfia Nazir – playing his first game for KUFC – scored 10 goals to help his team beat Karachi WFC 19-0 in the Karachi derby at KMC Stadium. Suha Herani also took part in KUFC’s success by scoring five goals.
While Zulfia kept the scorers busy with goalscoring numbers at KMC Stadium, Nepalese Masha United made sure they showered goals at KPT Football Stadium.
Sara Limbi scored 10 goals while Anita KC kicked the ball six times to help Masha United beat Sialkot City Women Club by 19 goals. The latter remained goalless throughout the game.
Previously, in another match at KMC Stadium, the star-studded WAPDA beat Gilgit Women FC 14-0.
For WAPDA, Sanober scored a goals quartet, Maria Khan scored three goals, and Fatima Ansari and Dua Gillani two each.
Four more matches are now scheduled for Wednesday – the second day of the championship.
Defending champions Pakistan Army will face Jafa FC at KMC Stadium and Riaz Kamil FC will take on FC Karachi at KPT Stadium in the morning session.
Diya WFC will play Mohsin Gillani WFC and Nawanshehr United will play Highlanders FC in the afternoon session.
