NEW YORK – In coordination with ESL Gaming, the National Hockey League (NHL) today announced the first time The NHL Player Gaming Challenge ™ is presented by Honda – NHL Official Automotive Partner – featuring NHL players representing all 31 Clubs. In addition, the latest NHL franchise, NHL Seattle, will take part in the League’s latest #HockeyAtHome initiative. For four weeks, starting April 30, each Club will be represented by one or two current players and be displayed in a one-time match against another Club. Weekly matches, story lines, and broadcast details will be revealed at the beginning of each week. Activating this League esports at EA SPORTS ™ NHL®20 is a fun and unique way to engage hockey and game fans and is supported by the National Hockey League Players Association.

The National Hockey League Foundation and Electronic Arts will donate a combined $ 100,000 to support the CDC Foundation’s COVID-19 relief effort. The CDC Foundation is an independent non-profit organization that helps the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) save and improve lives, including during COVID-19 responses. The composition of talented players is confirmed for The NHL Player Gaming Challenge ™ is presented by Honda including Brady Tkachuk The Ottawa senator took his brother Matthew, who played for the Calgary Flames. The All-Star brothers will join a teammate Jake DeBrusk and Charlie McAvoy from Boston Bruins, Evander Kane San Jose Sharks, Evgeny Kuznetsov from the Washington Capitals, Alex DeBrincat Chicago Blackhawks, Tyler Johnson from Tampa Bay Lightning and Nurse Darnell Edmonton Oilers, as well as diligent gamers Zach Hyman Toronto Maple Leafs and Filip Forsberg from the Nashville Predator. NHL Seattle, which began playing in 2021-22, will be represented by the Seattle Seahawks, Luke Willson, who plays hockey while growing up in LaSalle, Ont.

Early Thursday, April 30Los Angeles Kings TV’s play-by-play broadcaster Alex Faust will hold a series of weekly battles, which will be released on Thursday and Saturday. NBC Sports will broadcast the first game series, including Calgary vs Ottawa and Columbus vs Winnipeg, starting at 5 pm ET on NBCSN as part of it Happy Hour Hockey programming. Sportsnet will broadcast certain episodes on Sportsnet ONE for four consecutive weeks, starting Friday, May 1 in 4 pm. ET with all matches available at Sportsnet.ca and Sportsnet NOW. All matches will also be broadcast on the NHL Network on-air programming or its Twitch channel.

All featured matches will also be broadcast on the NHL social platform: Twitch, Youtube, Indonesia, Facebook Premiere and NHL.com. Hockey fans and games can follow using the hashtag #HockeyAtHome.

That The NHL Player Gaming Challenge ™ is presented by Honda remind fans to stay safe, stay home and play together. With NHL Players flowing from the comfort of their homes, fans will feel how some of their favorite players keep their hockey skills sharp and handle the break of the 2019-20 NHL® season. ESL Gaming, a leader in esports, provides production, creative direction and logistical guidance for the event. All matches will be played using Sony PS4 game consoles.
