KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Thursday said the government wants to make all of Karachi a ‘Safe City’ by installing CCTV cameras and hopes the Sindh government will provide funds to resolve security issues permanently like the provincial government is doing. fund.

He announced on the occasion that (100,000) one lac person would be issued a new National Computerized Identity Card (CNIC) for free every day.
He further said all Tehsils headquarters would have a NADRA Center to facilitate the community.
The interior minister said Sindh had a total of 62 NADRA Centers, 16 mobile vehicles and would have three more NADRA Centers.
He further said that the three Nadra Centers were established for 24 hours.
Moreover, he said, they were trying to carry 300 NADRA vehicles on the road because people could find CNICs at their doorsteps.
He said only Pakistanis would be given CNIC and the category of Afghan people had been changed and put on the other side of the list.
Sheikh Rashid said at the prime minister’s direction, summaries had also been sent to the Ministry of Finance to increase the working life of passports from five years to ten years to make it easier for the public.
He further said they would also introduce e-passports to meet international standards.
The minister said the facilities at the airport would also be improved.
