RIO DE JANEIRO, October 23 (Reuters) – Brazilian health regulator Anvisa said in a statement on Friday that it was allowing the biomedical center of the Butantan Institute of Sao Paulo to import 6 million doses of a candidate for the coronavirus vaccine developed by China’s Sinovac.

The vaccine, known as CoronaVac, is still in phase 3 clinical trials in Brazil and has not been registered for wider use in Brazil, said Anvisa. (Reporting by Pedro Fonseca, written by Jake Spring, edited by Chris Reese)
