According to a recent speech by the company’s founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei, Huawei Technologies must diversify its operations, simplify its product lines, focus on generating profits and maintain a salary level of three to five years to avoid US trade restrictions.
Ren Zhengfei delivered a speech last June, but Huawei did not make a public speech on Friday until two days after the inauguration of US President Joe Biden. The Shenzhen-based telecommunications equipment giant has encountered many obstacles in the past six months: the company was banned from accessing products related to American technology and services, sold cheap smartphone brand glory, and launched new businesses such as The field redoubled its efforts in cloud services and smart cars.
Ren Zhengfei, 76, said in his speech that US restrictions made it difficult for Huawei to implement its initial globalization plan, and the company was forced to build its own production line.
Ren Zhigang said: “There is a big mismatch between our abilities and strategies.” “This is our weak link. We are forced to start from scratch like elementary school students.”
Ren Zhengfei said when talking about the Chinese proverb “The smartest housewife can’t live without rice”, he said that Huawei is neither “smart wife” nor “owning rice.”
Ren Zhengfei’s speech style is unique, combining company strategy, military terminology, poetic expression and philosophical language.
The business empire of this Chinese entrepreneur is at the center of the storm sweeping the technological competition between China and the United States. He said that Huawei will not be defeated or dissatisfied with the United States.
Ren Zhigang said: “Please don’t feel frustrated because of the temporary pressure from the United States, or give up our globalization strategy.” “There is no future without embracing globalization.” [in development and research]. “
Mr. Ren said that Huawei must “operate normally and find a way to motivate people on the principle that the salary structure will not change in the next three to five years.”
Ren Zhigang revealed that “hundreds of Huawei cadres” have voluntarily demoted. He said: “This shows that our team is excellent.”
The CEO said that Huawei must also continue to work on research and development.
“We invest 20 billion U.S. dollars in research and development each year, but revenue only accounts for 40% of the investment and 60% [of investment] It burns like a candle in the dark. “But we have no complaints. Just like the leading European, American, Japanese and Russian businesses, we can provide inspiration to others.”
Mr. Ren called on the company to stay focused and focus on profit.
“We must gradually shift the focus from the top line to the bottom line. Ren said: “All product lines…must not blindly pursue to be the first……We have no conditions to always strive to be the first. “We must create value and reasonable profits to ensure healthy growth. “
The CEO also called on the company to delegate more power to local branches and offices. Ren, who works in the People’s Liberation Army, said: “Battlefield orders should be directed by people who can hear gunshots.” “Even without a central command center, the company can still fight flexibly. This is the goal of our reform.”
Ren Zhigang said that Huawei has realized that the United States wants nothing from the United States except its death.
“In the beginning, we thought we might have done something wrong in terms of compliance, so we performed a self-check; but then the second and third hits. Then we realized that they wanted our death…but the desire to survive It also inspired us.”
Ren Zhengfei has always tried to keep a low profile, but in the past few years, tensions with the United States have intensified, making him the center of attention. In an interview with the South China Morning Post in early 2020, Ren Zhengfei said that he is not Huawei’s spiritual leader, and his “biggest wish is to drink coffee in a cafe without being noticed.”

There are more than 2.4 million cases of the corona virus around the world to date, and a new study shows that strains in Europe today are far more deadly than those found in the US.
Researchers from Zhejiang University believe corona virus has mutated into at least 30 different types.
Strains in China and Europe are found to be some of the most dangerous, while those in the US are lighter, according to South China Morning Post.
In the study, researchers analyzed virus strains from 11 coronavirus patients, testing how effectively the virus can infect and kill human cells.
The results revealed that some of the deadliest mutations were found in Zhejiang, while this strain was also found in Spain, Italy, and New York.
Alarmingly, this type of virus was found to create up to 270 times the viral load compared to the lightest type.
Meanwhile, the lightest strains are mostly found in the US, including in the State of Washington.

In the study, published in medRxiv, the researchers, led by Hangping Yao, wrote: “These findings indicate that the mutations observed in our study, and possibly the isolates of viruses collected throughout the world, can significantly impact the pathogenicity of SARS-CoV-2.”
Prevention of corona virus
In all, the researchers identified 31 types of viruses – 19 of them new.
They explained: “19 of the 31 mutations identified were new, although the date of sampling was relatively early, showing that the true diversity of virus strains is still largely underappreciated.”
Based on their findings, the researchers concluded that while the coronavirus vaccine might help some patients, it might not be effective against some types.
They concluded: “Finally, similar to the flu, the development of drugs and vaccines, while pressing, needs to consider the impact of the accumulation of these mutations, especially the mutation of the founder, to avoid potential pitfalls.”
