RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, 18 December 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Cisco, Qwilt and Digital Alpha (DA) today announced that they are working with TEAM Brazil to bring their new Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution to the Brazilian market with new technology based on Open Caching. TIM is the first service provider to launch this new business model and Open Caching service in Brazil.
The new CDN solution will be implemented by NEC Brazil. Based on Open Caching, it will help prepare the TIM network to support increased data volumes and to improve the streaming experience across its network. Open Caching will also drive new revenue, helping TIM become an active part of the content delivery value chain to end users. This solution will help service providers reduce content delivery costs by introducing CDN capabilities within their networks and eliminating implementation costs through an innovative model.
Open Caching, an open architecture developed and supported by the Streaming Video Alliance, offers a platform that incorporates a content delivery infrastructure deployed deep within the service provider’s network, provides open APIs for content publishers as well as protection and security mechanisms.
It is designed to help service providers rapidly deploy an edge CDN footprint, and meet the needs of global and regional content providers for greater capacity, consistency in content delivery, and guaranteed performance.
Digital Alpha, a premier alternative asset manager with an exclusive collaboration agreement with Cisco, is an investment partner and provides CAPEX’s first risk-free and risk-free funding solution for TIM and other major telecom service providers worldwide. The partnership combines Qwilt’s innovative content delivery platform based on Open Caching with Cisco edge computing and network infrastructure to provide as-a-service solutions to service providers of all sizes worldwide. BT recently announced that it has implemented the solution in the UK.
“Our presence in open network solutions aligns with our strategy to maintain open infrastructure initiatives and build an environment for sustainable development. When we combine innovative solutions with differentiated services to customers, we are expanding the consumer experience in a unique movement in Brazil. We want to maintain service quality as one of the pillars of the TIM in the country, “said Leonardo Capdeville, CTIO, TIM Brazil.
“Starting this month, the first platform will be activated by the country, in a project that extends to 13 points in the Brazil TIM network, bringing quality content closer to consumers. We are proud to have partners who think like us, and who value the quality of service provided to TIM’s millions of customers across the country, ”said Alberto Griselli, CRO, TIM Brazil.
