While many Americans cancel travel plans because of COVID-19, Veronika Herder explores the world with film crews. Herder’s adventures took him to New Frontier Farm in Corsicana, which is owned by Cliff Paterson and Female Hawkins.
New Frontier Farm is a unique independent farm that has been providing products for its owners, locals and restaurants for 10 years. Herder spends his days caring for animals and learning about Texans.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Herder moved to Melbourne, Australia seven years ago, where she met her husband. The Herders visited California and increasingly liked the United States. When they learn about the opportunity to move across the ocean, they propose.
The Visa Immigration Diversity Program, also called the Green Card Lottery, receives 55,000 people a year from countries that qualify for under-representation in the United States. After three years, Green Card holders are eligible to apply for US citizenship.
Before moving to the US, Herder worked in fashion retail in Australia, but his work at New Frontier Farm needed very different clothes. Herder discovered the farm while searching the Workaway website for opportunities to trade labor for housing and food.
Workaway helps prospective travelers connect with host opportunities around the world.
Herder said the experience provided “an affordable way to travel and live with locals.
“You can understand the country best when you live with locals,” he said.
She and her husband knew they would make Los Angeles their home, but she wanted to experience the US experience, starting with Texas.
“When I think of America, I think of Texas. It’s about the real thing that you can get: cowboys, rodeos, and agricultural life. The Texans are very friendly and I like the countryside; many fields with cows. “
A diligent traveler and popular social media personality on Instagram, Herder caught the attention of a popular German television program, “Goodbye Germany.”
Every week, this event presents a different traveler when the film crew captures their experience of moving to another country. The show offers three million viewers and 10 years of 90-minute weekly episodes. The film crew will follow Herder to each stop for the following year, then air the episode next year.
Herder reported that he learned a lot of work in agriculture.
“With agricultural life, there’s no weekend. You must always care for animals, “he said.
As part of his housing agreement, he spends two to four hours a day working.
“I support my adoptive family helping the garden and feeding animals,” he said. “It is not a difficult job. I enjoy helping this way. I make sure animals are fed and watered.
As a result of his experience, he hopes to grow the garden one day.
In addition to agricultural life, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Herder reported he had enjoyed local events, including the rodeo, Cowboy Church, Batu Merah filmmaking, and dining at the Bistro.
Next, Herder headed to Vermont. But Corsicana has made an impression and Germany will hear it.
“What they say about the Texans is true,” he said. “They are honest and kind, and I feel that’s what you have here.”
“After the show aired, I had 150 text messages, which was cool. And everyone likes, ‘You are doing extraordinary. The fire brigade is a great competitor, ” said Thomas. “I like it,‘ Wait a minute, it’s true that he was a firefighter, but that man ranked second in the world at CrossFit Games a few years ago. If anything, he is a pro and I am an amateur who plays in his arena. “
“I didn’t really pay attention to how close it was until it was all over and I saw The Rock’s reaction. He left, ‘Oh! That’s the closest we have seen to the Titan Game! ’
That doesn’t mean the competition isn’t tiring for Thomas, who retired from the NFL in March 2018 and has dropped almost 75 pounds from his 325 pounds. One of the reasons he didn’t realize his victory was a fraction of a second was because he almost died, he said.
“I’ll tell you what, that’s really brutal. It’s a lot harder than I expected. It’s terrible. I won’t lie,” Thomas admitted. “It was a 3-minute all-out effort, and for the people I fought, the CrossFit champion, I’m sure they were accustomed to pushing their bodies to such limits. And they benefited from not having 15 years of college and professional football in the body they are far more trained at it.
“Even though I really did some intense training to get ready as soon as I knew I would be on the show, my body was used for explosions of 3 to 5 seconds (in football). And then I get 30 to 40 seconds rest. And the show was as legitimate as doing the entire NFL game in 3 minutes. That’s like 65 playing back-to-back-to-back.
Better weather and summer may come to the Philadelphia area, but orders and restrictions on staying home for large gatherings remain in force due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the majority of the population will still be quarantined and ostracized at home, which means more time for streaming television shows and films.
Netflix has launched a list of films and television shows that will be available on the streaming platform in June, and one of the highlights is the Academy Award winning director / producer / writer Spike Lee’s latest film “Da 5 Bloods.”
The film, starring actor Chadwick Boseman, tells the story of four Vietnamese African-American veterans who returned to the country in search of the remains of comrades killed during the Vietnam War, and buried treasure.
The war drama will be available on Netflix on June 12.
Other famous films coming to the streaming platform next month include “Clueless,” “Casper,” “ET Extra-Terrestrial,” and “The Silence of the Lambs.” The following is a complete list of every show and film that will come to Netflix in June. .

The Rotary Club of Brazil is determined to give its community a proper July four celebration for the freedom and independence missed in the previous few months.
For 85 years, Rotary has held the Fourth of July celebration, but this year is likely to come down as one of the most unique.
Club officials announced Thursday that they had decided, for the sake of public health, not to enter the carnival in the middle of the road.
They instead planned entertainment for three days from 3 to 5 July at Forest Park in Brazil, led by an annual fireworks display at 10:05 at night. 4th of July.
Club president Chad Schopmeyer said officers over the past few weeks had ideas that could be used to work if, and how, celebrations could still occur.
And while there is no plan that pleases everyone, Schopmeyer says the planned celebration still has plenty of entertainment for the whole family.
“We want to still have something to look forward to in our community and give them something to get out of their homes and get excited,” Schopmeyer said.
All bands and music for fireworks will be broadcast live on WAMB-FM 106.9 in Brazil and WAMB-FM 99.5 on Terre Haute.
Without a middle ground and an annual draw in danger, because the Indiana Gaming Commission has suspended charity games across the state, the club recognizes the financial difficulties it faces.
However, Rob Dispennett, the club’s elected president, said that although the fireworks display was one of the more expensive parts of production, it was also one of the officers who most did not want to be cut if necessary.
“Our council gathered and decided that if we had to go bankrupt doing it, we wanted to make the fireworks fly,” Dispennett said.
Putting aside that sentiment, Rotary of Brazil says it now relies on the good of the people to help ensure that it does not happen.
Schopmeyer said the club was a beneficiary of a $ 10,000 grant from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, but they hoped to at least match that amount in donations from community members.
Anyone who wants to contribute can visit a bank in Brazil and make a contribution to the Rotary of Brazil. It has also collected GoFundMe on https://bit.ly/2ZsJejh.

Jason Momoa and Peter Dinklage will star in ‘Good Bad & Undead’.
The stars of ‘Game of Thrones’ will reunite for the action adventure film, which will be directed by Max Barbakow.
According to Deadline, Momoa will play a vampire who has promised never to kill again.
This character will join the vampire hunter Van Helsing, who will be played by Dinklage, to form a partnership that is not possible because they started a joint fraud.
However, things turn out to be worst when a big gift is placed on the head of Momoa’s alter-ego.
The film reunion of Momoa and Dinklage came after star Khal Drogo admitted last year he wanted to remake the film ‘Twins’ with Dinklage.
The actor ‘Aquaman’ admitted that he would jump at the chance to work with his fellow ‘Game of Thrones’ – who played Tyrion Lannister in the HBO fantasy series – on a new version of a 1988 comedy friend.
The film originally starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito as twins separated from birth who reunite and look for their biological mothers.
The film’s advice was conveyed to Momoa, and he answered: “Tell me where I have to sign! Of course. That would be awesome. I like the film.”
He then agreed with the moderator of the event, who urged: “People on Twitter, make that happen.”
Momoa has never shared screen time with Dinklage in ‘Game of Thrones’, putting both of their characters as allies of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), but he is still a big fan of actor talent.
He said: “She is extraordinary.”
Jamie Lee Curtis will direct and write a horror film titled ‘Mother Nature’.
The 61-year-old actress and production company Comet Pictures has signed a three-year contract with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions for film and television projects.
‘Mother Nature’, a horror film centered around climate change, is the first project to be made as part of an agreement and will mark director Jamie’s debut.
Jamie – who is a horror icon from playing Laurie Strode in the ‘Halloween’ franchise – told Deadline: “I’m 61 years old and my motto now is: ‘If not now, when, if not me, who?’
“I am happy to have a creative home to explore my own ideas and those of others. Jason and his team have made me feel welcome. Comets are ready to bring these stories to life.”
The 2018 version of ‘Halloween’ was produced by Blumhouse Productions, who described Jamie as “the power of nature”.
Jason Blum, CEO and founder of the company, said: “Jamie is a natural force and is a real partner on Halloween. So, it is an honor and also very precise that he made his first feature film as a director with ‘Mother Nature’.”
Jamie also reportedly repeated his role as Helen Tasker from the 1994 film ‘True Lies’ for the Disney + spinoff film.
Based on WeGotThisCovered.comHe will be joined by co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who plays Harry Tasker, but the duo will have a recurring part rather than the main role in the series.
Jamie previously described Helen Tasker as one of her favorite characters and described James Cameron’s film as “perfect”.
He explained: “‘True Lies’ is just the perfect combination of everything I would do well in everything. It was just a perfect canvas. It was a very large scope and Jim hired me, he wrote it for me … and it was because he let me do what I do. “
Cher Lloyd said that fame was “mentally damaging”.
The 26-year-old singer – who has a 23-month-old daughter Delilah-Rae with her husband Craig Monk – became famous as a teenager when he appeared in the English singing competition ‘The X Factor’ in 2010, and said that while being a pop star was a “dream” that came true, the pressure of fame quickly became a “nightmare”.
Recalling the early days of his success, he said: “I am naive 16 years old, who came from a small, sheltered city where bad things did not happen, and I think I find it more difficult to go to shows like that because of where I come from my background.
“I can deal with pressure to perform easily, that’s not the part that I face – anything creative is a dream for me.
“When it comes to the world of showbiz and gossip, that’s when it starts to collapse and the dream turns into a bit of a nightmare. I feel like being thrown at a wolf and it’s very mentally damaging.”
The singer of ‘None of My Business’ finished in fourth place on the show, and when he began paving the way in the music industry, he found himself suffering from intense attacks every day online including the threat of racism and death.
In 2012, the singer was forced off stage at the V Festival after members of the audience threw bottles of urine at her, and Cher now admits the abuse made her feel “lonely”.
He added: “I spent most of the night crying in hotel rooms – of course, they are a fantastic five star hotel, but I am very lonely. I don’t trust anyone. I think everyone is out to pick me up or want to take ** Get out from me and destroy whatever dreams I have. “
And even a decade after his appearance on ‘The X Factor’, Cher still felt “disappointed” by the way he was treated.
Speaking to The Sun in Fabulous magazine on Sunday, he explained: “I’m more disappointed that it’s okay to do that to humans, and that talent can be ignored because people want to create characters. And even 10 years later, I still have to prove to people that that person wasn’t me. The things that happened to me then wouldn’t be allowed to happen today. It feels tacky and dirty and we don’t want to sit and laugh at the other people. “
