COVID-19 cases are increasing across the country | Instant News

KARACHI: Covid-19 cases are starting to gradually increase in Pakistan, especially in Sindh, while coronavirus infections are also increasing in Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan and Islamabad, officials and experts said on Wednesday.

The highest number of Covid-19 cases in Pakistan was reported from Sindh where 400 people tested positive for the Corona virus on Tuesday and 311 on Wednesday, said Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, adding that they tested 10,881 samples on Tuesday, in which 400 of them tested positive for the corona virus, which is 3.6 percent of the sample. The infection also claimed two more lives in Sindh in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 2,499. Likewise, the laboratory in Sindh tested 10,940 samples from Tuesday to Wednesday, which resulted in 311 positive cases, said the chief minister of Sindh. He added that the number of cases continued to rise in Karachi and Hyderabad where the detection rate had passed 6 percent. As of Tuesday, September 30, 2020 about 5,464 samples were tested in Karachi and 365 of them tested positive, which is 6.68 percent detection rate.

Given the gravity of the situation, the district government in Karachi has decided to close restaurants and shopping centers found to be in violation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while the Western district government in Karachi has also decided to implement “micro-smart locks” on some Union Councils to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. .

An overview of the Covid-19 situation on September 28 revealed that Karachi witnessed the highest number of Covid-19 cases in a single day in Sindh where 338 people tested positive for the infectious disease while 6,419 tests were carried out, federal health authorities told The News saying 5.27 percent the sample tested positive in Karachi which is a worrying trend.

Likewise, 3.08 percent of the sample tested positive in the Sindh city of Hyderabad when 519 of the samples were tested and 16 of them tested positive for Covid-19, federal officials said.

On the other hand, Covid-19 cases are also increasing in Balochistan, especially in Quetta where 973 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours and 68 of them tested positive, which is a detection rate of 6.99 percent, officials said. But the situation is very worrying in Gilgit-Baltistan where 18 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the city of Gilgit out of 78 samples tested, said the official who added that in Gilgit, the detection rate was 24.32 percent.

On the other hand, experts claim that although coronavirus infections have also increased in the Capital Territory of Islamabad but surprisingly, cases have not increased in various cities in Punjab including Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Multan despite the increase in hospitalization of Covid-19 patients. . .

“The hospitalization of Covid-19 cases is always the highest in various cities in Punjab compared to Sindh where the cases are highest every day. This raises the suspicion that perhaps Punjab’s health authorities are hiding the case, ”said a senior health expert after reviewing national Covid-19 data.

The expert claims that the new admissions trend reveals that “Punjab accepts the highest number of patients to hospital” compared to Sindh but ironically, the number of cases is not increasing and is shown the lowest in Punjab. “There must be some manipulation being carried out with the Covid-19 data in Punjab,” said the expert.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 has claimed two more lives in Sindh in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 2,499 while 311 new cases have emerged in the province, raising the tally to 137,109, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

CM said that currently 4,255 patients are under treatment, of whom 3,978 are in home isolation, six in isolation centers and 271 in different hospitals. He added that the condition of 181 patients was declared critical, including 38 people switching to a ventilator. According to Murad Ali Shah, 215 patients recovered overnight. The number of patients who have recovered so far has reached 130,352 which is 95 percent. The Chief Minister said of the 311 new coronavirus cases, 221 were detected from Karachi, including 75 from the South, 53 East, 40 Central, 27 Korangi, 17 Malir and nine West.
