Vivo’s X50 flagship phone with a dreadlocks-style camera will fall in the second half of 2020 | Instant News

Vivo is set to release the X50 flagship series globally later this year.

Vivo announced three cellphones as part of the X50 series on Monday, marking the launch of the Chinese company’s first flagship phone this year.

X50, X50 Pro and X50 Pro Plus will be released internationally in the second half of 2020, the company said in a statement by email, without specifying which countries were included in the launch.

All three phones come with 5G capability and a screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, but only high-end models come with gimbal-style camera set-up embedded in the main camera, Vivo said in a release sent by email. A built-in structure like this gimbal has appeared on the Vivo concept phone, APEX 2020, which was announced at the end of February. The main camera of the X50 Pro Plus also includes a Samsung 50-megapixel sensor with faster auto focus that was announced earlier this month.

The X50 series from Vivo will display a screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

As for the base model X50, Vivo claims it is the thinnest 5G phone ever made as thick as 7.49mm. CNET cannot verify the claim independently.

Vivo has yet to release full specifications and prices for its new flagship series, which it said will be announced at an undetermined later date.
