Samsung Galaxy M31 – a cheap smartphone from the South Korean giant – received a new software update with the April 2020 security patch earlier this week. Although the latest software updates are intended to provide various security fixes, there appear to be a number of bugs that cause problems for users. Various affected users report that their Galaxy M31 failed while installing the latest update. Some Samsung Galaxy A70 users in this country, who received Android 10 updates along with One UI 2.0, also reported a similar problem.
As per user report in on Twitter, a few Samsung Galaxy M31 users end up damaging their cellphone when trying to install the latest update. The handset is reported stuck during the installation process, according to the user.
Some affected users also reported similar problems in the Samsung Community forum. Affected users highlighted that because the phone is bricked when installing new software, they can’t even do a factory return to fix the problem.
Although some users claim that they can solve the problem after downloading the previous firmware from a third-party source, it is not recommended because failing to flash the software can cause even serious problems.
Similar to Galaxy M31, several Samsung Galaxy A70 users in India also have it reported Similar bricking issues after installing the Android 10 update that came with One UI 2.0. Problems with the Galaxy A70 are caused by a hardware incompatibility, SamMobile reported. However, that might not be the reason in the case of Galaxy M31.
Some reports also suggest that Samsung has stopped launching updates for the Galaxy M31 and Galaxy A70 to avoid further problems.
While Samsung can fix this problem in future software updates, users whose cellphones are blocked do not have a break until they can reach the company’s service center, all of which are closed due to national locking. Corporate social media yet lots of help to users too. Samsung does have the option to help customers remotely, but it’s unclear whether the company plans to do that.
Gadget 360 has contacted Samsung India to comment on this issue and will update this space when the company responds. In the meantime, it is recommended not to install the latest updates to avoid any problems.
The Samsung Galaxy M31 is one of the company’s latest cellphones in the country launched in February this year.
