New Delhi: Technology giant Google Will host the sixth annual Google for India Today’s event. This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the company decided to virtualize the event. The event will be broadcast live on Google’s official YouTube channel at 2pm.
The invitation issued by the company reads: “Please join us as Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, Google and Alphabet, Honorary Minister of the Ministry of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology and Law and Justice of India, Ravi Shankar Prasad of the Indian Government and many of us Leaders share the vision and path to address India’s needs and bring the benefits of the digital economy to everyone.”
Google has not disclosed details of the event or news that the company plans to announce it in the Indian market.
Recently, Google and Apple have launched their notification technology in India by updating their smartphone operating systems (iOS and Android). The public health department in the country can now use the API to build contact tracking applications that are deeply integrated with mobile operating systems. In turn, this will help avoid technical failures (such as loss of tracking) when the application is in the background.
However, to date, no state or central government has shown any interest in using the API. The central government’s Aarogya Setu application does not rely on the above APIs and will continue to run on its own, so tracking applications developed by other state governments will be contacted.
