As per some online reports, Xiaomi’s newest smartphone, the Mi 10 box has an ‘special’ message for Huawei. Reportedly the European version of the Mi 10 box has an engraved message that reads, “with easy access to the Google applications you use the most”. Now, this is a clear excavation at Huawei because the latest P40 mobile series doesn’t come with any Google applications. Instead, Huawei phones have their own applications under the Huawei Mobile Services platform.
Xiaomi recently overtook Huawei to become the number three player in the world. At present, Xiaomi is the market leader in India but has made inroads in the European market too. Therefore, the message in the box in Europe, which was the main market for Huawei before Google but the US ban on braking.
Huawei has worked on several initiatives – such as Huawei Mobile Services – to reduce its dependence on Google. However, it is clear that being an OEM Android the lack of Google applications has been the main cause of the company’s downturn. Recently, one of the senior executives at Huawei said that the company remained open to working with Google again. It remains to be seen whether US authorities show leniency and let Huawei work with companies like Google again.
Xiaomi, meanwhile, already has a history of taking photos in rivals including Apple, Samsung and OnePlus and this time taking covert excavations at competitors closer to home.
