Will come to Kickstarter early next year.
Failbetter Games, a developer such as Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies, has revealed that it is currently developing two new games, one of which is a prequel to the visually novel style of its acclaimed browser game Fallen London.
Fallen London celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. It unfolds in another universe, Victorian London, which was stolen by bats and taken below the surface of the planet, down into a huge underground cave system called Neath .
Failbetter’s next game is titled “The Mask of the Rose” and was held in 1862, shortly after London moved underground, and about thirty years before the Fall of London and the Sunless events. Compared to the other games in the series, this is also somewhat different, known as a “romantic visual novel”-although it retains Failbetter’s dark and irresistible Gothic wit.
Creative director Emily Short said in Failbetter’s statement: “The mask of roses was transported underground in Victorian London for a few months, and followed the tenants. “Underwater, the mysterious master of the bazaar is now in charge.”
At least according to the accompanying trailer trailer, the next action will see players find their game, collect love stories from London, solve the competition, overcome trouble, and do it all. Short added that this will also provide an opportunity to “spend more private time with some famous people and focus on personal relationships in the story”.
Like Failbetter’s two latest works (Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies) (both won Eurogamer Essential awards), “Mask of Roses” will try to get funding Campaign via Kickstarter, Is currently expected to be launched in February next year. The game itself is scheduled to be released in 2022.
In addition to the rose mask, Failbetter is also working on a second work, although it is still confidential. CEO Adam Myers explained: “We can’t introduce you to other games yet, but we can say that its game mechanics are very different from our past work, and it’s in a new environment. In progress”.
