Facebook for Android starts launching the bottom bar interface | Instant News

The Facebook Android application appears to be launching a new bottom-bar interface for users that significantly increases one-handed usage.

In the latest update to the official Facebook application on Android – with server-side changes not yet available to all users – Facebook is more widely testing the interface bar below. XDA highlight this interface earlier today and we can confirm it directly with some of our readers.

In this new bottom bar, Facebook places a homepage icon on the far left of the screen, the “People” tab next to, “Profiles” after that, and finally tabs for notifications and for settings. In some cases, the Marketplace tab also appears. When the new interface first appears on your device, a short introduction shows to highlight how these shortcuts are now “in range.”

This change is not too big, but should be a big improvement for one-handed uses. As mentioned, this seems to be being launched for many users, but not everyone.
