Settings are important

However, Microsoft has done a great job designing how its console automatically enters a low-power standby mode. With one exception, Sony has done a good job designing the standby mode (“rest mode”). We measured the PS5’s standby power consumption to be 1 watt or less, and wake up within about 10 to 15 seconds after the user returns. The PS5 controller comes with a rechargeable battery and a USB cable that connects to the console for charging. It uses some extra standby power to keep the USB port charging the controller’s battery for 3 hours, then drops to 1 watt or less. Overall, this is a more environmentally friendly method than Xbox, which comes with disposable batteries that need to be replaced regularly.

Sony shuts down its game consoles after one hour of inactive video playback and four hours of inactive video playback.
