As the COVID-19 pandemic worsens in many parts of the world, Capcom has decided to continue and cancel the 2020 Capcom Cup. The competition was originally scheduled to be held in the Dominican Republic from February 19 to 21, 2021. The finals of the online season are planned to be held from February 20th to 21st.
Although we firmly believe that a large-scale event can be held without affecting the players, employees and crew, as the situation develops and the global epidemic situation intensifies, we have reassessed.
For those who don’t know, Capcom Cup 2020 has two seasons of finals: Street Fighter League Finals and Capcom Pro Tour finals. The original plan was to hold the former on February 19, 2021, and the latter on February 20-21, 2021. With the implementation of the new plans, these plans have been changed to an online-only format, which is expected to be held from February 20th to 21st.For more information about these changes, see Here In the coming weeks.
Due to the increasing incidence of COVID-19 worldwide, we have made difficult decisions: #CapcomCup.Instead, we will #CapcomProTour February 20-21. The details are as follows: pic.twitter.com/3WsObiSFVA

The announcement was made before the fate of the 2020 Capcom Pro Tour, which was originally scheduled to start in March 2020, which unfortunately coincides with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. Then it was forced to move completely online for safety and travel considerations. Now, the ending of the tour, which is usually held in the same year, has been postponed to 2021, hoping to hold face-to-face events. Unfortunately, this must also be done online.
In December, Capcom released a video of the event. Obviously, some of these plans have changed since then.
