Dontnod, the creator of the “Strange Life” series, announced that it will enter third-party publishing.
The studio’s first partner is Broken Lines developer PortaPlay, and the company’s next name is being developed as a co-production, for which Dontnod owns most of the intellectual property rights.
According to Dontnod, PortaPlay’s upcoming title is “Original works that conform to Dontnod’s editorial vision and values.”
“As a publisher, we want to provide players with an experience that can be used by a broad audience, while also setting a benchmark in terms of theme and design quality,” said Xavier Spinat, Dontnod’s publishing director. “From the first discussion with PortaPlay, we know very well that co-production and distribution of this original work will allow us to expand our product portfolio by supplementing games that complement the internal work, while staying true to our DNA. We will be able to bring our expertise and understanding of the market to our partners in accordance with the expectations of the community.”
PortaPlay development director Hans von Knut Skovfoged added: “We are required to engage in meaningful games.” “Games that combine solid game mechanics and storytelling-solutions to moral dilemmas for individuals in crisis situations.
