French publisher Microids today announced four new Smurfs video game adaptations after reaching an agreement with Smurfs license holder IMPS. Starting from the 3D adventure platform game The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf, each game will span different game types. The game will be launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC in the second half of 2021.
So far, apart from the nature of the game design, the details of the game are still very few. Vileaf is actually the confirmed name of the Smurf game, which was first teased by Microids in May last year.
Microids CEO Stephane Longeard commented on today’s announcement in today’s press release:
“We are excited about this ambitious deal with IMPS because it expands our long-lasting and very promising partnership.
Such a wealth of franchise rights can be passed on from generation to generation, which allows us to create a variety of different games: there will be products for all tastes! In addition, thanks to this partnership and the incredible international reputation of Smufs, Microids continues to significantly strengthen and diversify its catalog of well-known IPs. “
Veronique Culliford, the founding president of IMPS, also said:
“It is a great honor to work with Microids. We are fully confident that they will launch iconic, creative and gorgeous games with our little Smurfs. I’m sure that both children and adults will be happy. In addition, as will be 2021 With the new Smurfs TV series that aired worldwide in 2016, the Smurfs’ reputation will further increase! I’m really proud to be able to consolidate our ties with another company in the Media Participation Group.”
