DJI Mavic Air 2: The value of their best drones | Instant News

The new DJI Mavic Air 2 drone won warm reviews for good reason. It was incredible.

Not only does it capture beautiful, stable, very detailed videos and super sharp 48 megapixel images, but it is also very easy to fly.

With a new propeller, it is much quieter than any other drone we’ve ever flown, so you can barely hear it so little above you.

Now offers a 34 minute flight time – much better at the 21 minutes promised to Mavic Air. Importantly, it also has a larger ½ inch camera sensor which is a very noticeable improvement.

I took my photographer partner on one of our test flights and he did not believe the quality of video streaming over my phone.

Mavic Air 2-fold offers many of DJI’s larger drone features but in something that can be easily inserted into a small camera case or backpack. Weighing just over 500 grams so it’s easy to carry throughout the day.

At the front of the video, it offers 4K at 60 frames per second and 120 fps.

You can also record HDR video, 4K slow motion video in 1080p at 120 fps or 8x slow motion at 240fps.

On the photo side, you have the option of 12 megapixels or 48 megapixels for an 8000 x 6,000 pixel image that is about 20 megabytes in size. Even in reasonable winds, the three-axis gimbal manages to keep the camera steady.

The technology around taking pictures and videos is also getting smarter with the new SmartPhoto feature to better analyze what you take.

In the HDR photo option, Mavic Air 2 captures seven different images from the same scene, at various exposures, to increase dynamic range, which means more detail.

We test it in the middle of the day, when it is cloudy and at sunset, and the results are consistently good.
In low light, the Hyperlight mode takes several photos and combines them to produce a decent image with less noise than you expect.

Mavic Air 2 recognizes five categories of scenery including sunset, blue sky, grass, snow, and trees, then optimizes settings. To fly, it has a new motorbike, a new electronic speed controller (ESC), improved battery technology and an aerodynamic design.

Incredibly, the OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology has been upgraded to provide stable HD video feeds from drones at a maximum distance of 10 km. Of course, that is much further than the Australian rule that says you should be able to see your drone.

One big danger with drones, of course, is crashing into obstacles, like trees or tree branches.

Air 2 has new safety features including obstacle sensors on the front and rear of the drone.

We tested them against fences and people and they worked very well in stopping the drones from moving further.

Additional sensors and additional lights at the bottom of the Mavic Air 2 help landings even in difficult lighting.

It also has a geofencing solution to help keep drones away from high-risk locations, such as busy airports.

Advanced Pilot Assistance System (APAS) 3.0 goes further to provide autonomous flights. When an obstacle comes to the drone’s path, it will create a new path around, below or above the object to avoid a collision.

Mavic Air 2 features an advanced tracking system that offers three different modes.

  • ActiveTrack 3 allows you to choose a subject that your drone will automatically follow, including the ability to re-engage the subject quickly if it moves temporarily behind an object.

  • Point of Interest 3.0 allows you to set automatic flight paths around certain subjects.

  • Spotlight 2.0 locks the subject in a frame while the user has a free operation from drone movement.

Mavic Air 2 has an 8K hyperlapse feature where you can choose an area for a series of time-lapse photos to be taken, even when our drones are moving.

You can choose Free movement, Circle, CourseLock, and WayPoints.

One of the best features of the DJI drone is QuickShots, which allows amateurs to create supersmooth cinematic videos. Pilots can choose Rocket, Circle, Dronie, Helix, Boomerang or Asteroid.

If you are completely new to drones, DJI offers a new tutorial that shows everything from the basics of its settings to more advanced flights.

The DJI Fly application offers several great quick editing features so you can make fast videos with music, text and transitions directly on your mobile.

Mavic Air 2 is available in two choices: a standard package that includes Mavic Air 2 aircraft, one battery, remote control and all cables and cables needed for AUD $ 1,499.

The Fly More Combo, which includes all items from the standard version as well as a shoulder bag, ND filter, charging center, and two additional batteries, sells for $ 1899.

This will definitely be my Christmas 2020 wish list now.
