Netflix has launched a number of updated and improved parental controls, allowing more detailed control of the content displayed to children and the ability to lock adult profiles with a PIN. Other changes include the ability to view a child’s viewing history and the option to disable auto-playing on TV shows in children’s profiles.
Netflix has described the update in a new blog post, linking changes with feedback received from members.
“Choice and control are always important for our members, especially parents,” writes Netflix Children’s Product Manager, Michelle Parsons. “We hope that this additional control will help parents make the right choices for their families.”
Content can be filtered by ranking, and filters are created using a ranking system that is relevant to the country where you access Netflix.
Additionally, each show and movie can be completely hidden from a particular profile by simply adding a title to the block list from a simple dropdown menu search.
New controls are now active and can be accessed through the control settings on the desktop and the Netflix mobile app.
