Some applications including Google and WhatsApp have been working to introduce Dark Themes for some time, because of the obvious benefits.
Apart from the Dark Theme being introduced to mobile applications on Android and iOS, WhatsApp now works to activate the Dark Theme for WhatsApp Web as well.
Although it’s still under development, there is a hack to temporarily activate the original Dark Theme for WhatsApp Web by following a few easy steps.
First, you must go to the official WhatsApp page and open WhatsApp Web from your PC, through your favorite browser.
After you open the page, you must scan the QR Code of your Cellular Application, and through that, you must Enter the application.
When you are ready to use WhatsApp Web, just right-click anywhere outside the chat. A menu will appear, from which you must click “Inspect”. If right-clicking is difficult for you, then just open the Whatsapp web and press the F12 key from your keyboard.
Depending on your preferences, your browser will now display the console and page code (either on the right or bottom side of your page). In our case it is on the right hand side. Now in the Element Tab when you scroll up at the top of the code, you will see a string:
“web” is the interface that is set by default. Tweaking with strings is how you can activate Dark Themes. All you have to do is replace “web” with “dark web”.
After your string starts to look like this:, You must press ENTER.
And your WhatsApp Web interface will be dark! Now you can simply press F12 from your keyboard again to remove additional web developer tools for cleaner Whatsapp and Voila web browsing!
However, you must remember that changes in this browser are not permanent. If you logout and log back in or even refresh your webpage, the original classic theme will come back, and to activate Dark Themes, you will have to follow the steps mentioned above again.
There is no denying that dark themes are better than blue / white light interfaces. There is less strain on the eyes, and less strain on the device’s battery too. So, it is understandable why WhatsApp has also worked to activate the Dark theme for its users, because it is one of the most widely used applications. People use WhatsApp for communication as well as conducting business and education communications too. With such heavy use, Facebook developers need to introduce an original dark theme to WhatsApp Web for the benefit of users.
