Mi Band 5 Estimated to Pack Amazon Alexa Support, SpO2 Sensor; Expected to Launch in June-End | Instant News


Mi Band 5 is coming, at least that’s what leaked and rumors have been suggesting for months now. Given that we are approaching the one-year anniversary of the original launch of Mi Band 4 in China, it is not an exaggeration to assume that Xiaomi will work hard on its successor and may soon launch it. So, even though we’re still waiting for a concrete release date, a report claims to bring news about the Mi Band 5 feature which is expected to support Alexa Amazon’s voice assistant.

According to a report by the Tizen Help website, Mi Band 5, which will be built by Huami – the company behind Amazfit clothing products and before Mi Band model – will be launched in late June or the first half of July. The smart band is said to make its debut in China, followed by releases in other geographies, including India. The thing to remember, Mi Band 4 first launched as Mi Smart Band 4 in India in September last year.

In terms of features, the Tizen Help report claims that Mi Band 5 will have a bigger screen than its predecessor and offers NFC support. He also said to package the SpO2 sensor used to measure oxygen saturation in the blood. Many fitness equipment available already offers this feature.

Furthermore, support for Amazon Alexa has been provided as well as support for tracking women’s menstrual cycles. Alexa support will be available on both Chinese and international fitness tracker models.

In addition, the smart band is said to come with a Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) function that will use heart rate data to show users how much activity they need to stay healthy.

From another titbit from the Tizen Assistance report, the global version of Mi Band 5 which might be known as Mi Smart Band 5 will carry the model number – XMSH11HM. Also, NFC support will be limited to the Chinese market.
