Autumn usually sees disputes between the Apple iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy Note phablet, and this fall won’t be any different. Both Apple and Samsung are expected to launch their latest phones as usual – though perhaps with one or two delays – with new features and capabilities aimed at claiming the title the best phone overall.
We are still a few months away from the battle of the iPhone 12 Pro vs. Galaxy Note 20, but you won’t know from the leakage rate about the two new phones. Thanks to the steady stream of rumors, we got a pretty good idea about what Apple has planned for the new iPhone Pro models and how they will compete with Samsung’s latest phablet.
While specifications and features might change between now and fall, this is how the iPhone 12 Pro and Galaxy Note 20 are formed and how phones that increase this productivity compare to each other.

Price and availability of iPhone 12 Pro vs Galaxy Note 20
There won’t be a lot of price separation between the iPhone 12 Pro and the Galaxy Note 20, because both of these premium mobile features promise to test the limits of what people are willing to pay for a flagship device. While the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max are expected to start at $ 649 and $ 749, respectively, according to recently IPhone price leakiPhone 12 models will be a little more expensive. The iPhone 12 Pro will likely cost $ 999, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be priced at $ 1,099 – the same price as their iPhone 11 counterparts.
Factory rumors are less definitive about what to expect from the price of the Galaxy Note 20. But if Samsung stays at the price used with the Galaxy Note 10 series, the standard Note 20 will start at $ 949 and the Plus model will cost $ 1,099. Unlike Apple, which plans to launch four different iPhone 12 models this year, Samsung reportedly continues to use only two Note 20 versions.
Note 20 is likely to debut first, with Samsung is expected to hold an online launch event around the end of summer. (It will be August if Samsung follows the script last year, although we have heard some rumblings of the July launch.) The iPhone usually bows in early September, and while Apple will be happy to repeat the pattern with the iPhone 12, many reports have suggested that the coronavirus outbreak caused several delays in Apple’s production schedule. We now hear it Apple pushed back the launch of the iPhone 12 until October, the first time he didn’t show off his cellphone in September since 2011. That could give the Galaxy Note 20 a good first step, if Samsung could send the cellphone before the fall.
Design and appearance of the iPhone 12 Pro vs. Galaxy Note 20
Don’t expect a different appearance for the iPhone 12 Pro or Galaxy Note 20 when they arrive later this year. The iPhone 12 Pro must maintain the overall appearance of previous Apple phones, even though rumors point to a more flat edge reminiscent of the iPhone 5. The iconic position remains, although some rumors point out that it is getting smaller.
As for Note 20, it will be very similar to Galaxy S20 which came out earlier this year, with only slots for S phablet’s Pen. The camera cut on the back of a Samsung cellphone can also be a box than what we saw on Note 10, based on the CAD renders leaked from the new cellphone.
Instead of a major design change, the biggest thing about both phones can be the display. And we are not only talking about screen size.
Premium smartphones have moved towards a faster refresh rate for their display. Such features make for smoother scrolling and deeper gaming (at least in games that support faster refresh speeds). The Galaxy Note 20 is expected to eject pages from the Galaxy S20 book by selecting a refresh rate of 120Hz – double the typical smartphone speed of 60Hz. Unlike the S20, which has to reduce the resolution in 120Hz mode to save battery life, Note 20 is rumored to use LTPO technology to dynamically adjust the refresh rate, automatically turning it on when you run an application that supports the feature.
The iPhone Pro model can adopt a faster refresh rate too experts doubt whether Apple will be able to use LTPO technology on the phone this year. If it’s exclusive to Note 20, it can give Samsung a big edge.
As for the screen size itself, the iPhone 12 Pro model is expected to feature a larger screen than the 5.8 and 6.5-inch OLED panels on the current iPhone. The iPhone 12 Pro must have a 6.1 inch screen, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max can reach 6.7 inches. There is no consensus on how big the Note 20 screen can be. Initial rumors set the size of the Note 20 and Note 20 Plus at 6.42 and 6.87 inches respectively, but the CAD recently showed off the Galaxy Note 20. 6.7 inches. That means the Note 20 Plus is larger, if accurate.
IPhone vs. Camera Pro 12 Galaxy Note 20
The display might be a new battleground in the iPhone-Galaxy Note dispute, but the camera is still an important way to make the phone stand out from the rest. And this year, the iPhone 12 Pro is likely to bring other lenses to fight.
Last year, Apple used three cameras on the iPhone Pro – the main shooter that was coupled with telephoto and ultra wide angle lenses. The optics will most likely be back on the iPhone 12 Pro, with Apple adding a LiDAR sensor similar to the one introduced on iPad Pro early this year. This sensor is designed to accurately assess the distance between your cell phone and anything you aim at, which should mean better portrait shots than the iPhone 12 Pro. But the LiDAR sensor can also work with augmented reality applications to coat images on the iPhone 12 screen.
The camera settings of the Galaxy Note 20 will look very similar to the iPhone 12 – three lenses plus a flying time sensor for better portrait shooting. In fact, most analysts and leakers expect the Note 20 to draw a lot on the Samsung camera introduced with the Galaxy S20 lineup earlier this year.
That could mean the Note 20 uses a 108 megapixel main camera which is the main focus Galaxy S20 Ultra. While the cellphone has an autofocus problem which is ultimately handled in post-release patches, Samsung might use a different sensor to avoid that problem. The same leaker maker with the rumor also said that the Note 20 will not display the same Space Zoom camera found on the S20 Ultra, which means there is no 100x power for Note 20 users. Instead, look for something like Galaxy S20 Plus’ 64MP telephoto lens that produces 3x lossless zoom.
The camera enhancements made by Samsung in the S20 range allow the phone to push the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max to the title the best camera phone – The iPhone battle last year still won. It would be interesting to see if a better sensor makes a difference to Note 20 and how Apple improved its photo game with the iPhone 12.
Performance of iPhone 12 Pro vs Galaxy Note 20
Part of this contest can end before it starts. The A13 Bionic processor that strengthens the iPhone lineup is now ahead of the best Android phones featuring top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipsets. That’s what’s in the Galaxy S20 model and if Samsung follows the previous practice, it will use the Snapdragon 865 in the Note 20 range too.
So the new Galaxy models will already start with a performance deficit – and that was before Apple introduced the A14 processor which might power the iPhone 12 Pro. In addition to the regular performance improvements that you will see from the new chip, the A14 is also reportedly a 5-nanometer chip, which will make it more efficient.
Samsung might try and fight it themselves Exynos 992 system-on-chip, which is rumored to be a possibility if Qualcomm does not come out with a Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset that improves on 865. But the Snapdragon chip has outperformed the Exynos processor in the past, so we are not sure it will help Note 20 deal directly with the iPhone 12 Pro.
Apple reportedly plans to offer 128GB in the basic model of its new phone. That will double the capacity of the basic model of the iPhone 11 Pro, though it still lags behind 256GB of storage on the Galaxy Note 10. Worryingly, there are rumors Samsung can reduce it to 128GB for Note 20, which means sacrificing one of the cellphone areas that stands out against the iPhone.
IPhone 12 Pro vs. battery life and charging Galaxy Note 20
That Galaxy Note 10 doesn’t really amaze us with the battery’s durability, with a smaller model of two models that lasts 9 hours and 25 minutes on our battery test where we have cell phones that surf the web continuously over cellular until they run out of juice. That’s a result below the average for smartphones. That Note 10 Plus fared better, at 10 hours and 47 minutes, even though it was still lacking best cell phone battery life we have seen from the device we tested.
If the rumors are true, Samsung wants to improve the situation by increasing the size of the battery in the Galaxy Note 20. Standard 20 is reportedly reported to get a 4,000 mAh battery, up from the 3,500 mAh power pack on the Note 10. Note 20 Plus is expected to pack 4,500 mAh batteries.
Apple has never made a lot of noise about the size of the battery in cellphones, and for iPhone 11 Pro Max, that’s really unnecessary. The call lasted less than 12 hours in our tests. That iPhone 11 Pro last 10.5 hours, partly because of the smaller battery capacity. We hope for similar results from the iPhone 12 Pro model, although maybe a larger iPhone 12 Pro will be able to hold a larger battery than the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro.
We want to see if the Galaxy Note 20 or iPhone 12 Pro can meet new charging technology that will significantly speed up how long it will take to get a fully charged phone. Both Samsung and Apple are allegedly looking for chargers that use the new gallium nitride technology. That will reduce the size of the power adapter without reducing wattage for more efficient charging.
IPhone 12 Pro software vs. Galaxy Note 20 and special features
When the iPhone 12 Pro debuts, Apple’s new cellphone will appear together iOS 14 pre-installed. That is the latest version of Apple’s cellular operating system, and while we will not get a definitive word on iOS 14 to June features, the initial leakage leads to improvements such as a new multitasking interface, list view for applications and the default AR application to utilize the LiDAR sensor model Pro.
The Galaxy Note 20 will ship with Android 10, the same software found on the Galaxy S20 Plus this spring. Around the same time, Note 20 arrives, Google will launch Android 11, update for the mobile OS. If history is any guide, Samsung will not add Android 11 to Note 20 until around the end of the year.
Both the iPhone 12 Pro and Galaxy Note 20 will appear 5G connectivity – the first for the Apple iPhone lineup. (Note 10 Plus 5G added 5G support to Samsung’s phablet line last year.) The iPhone 12 Pro must be connected to all 5G flavors, as does Note 20.
There is a possibility of Touch ID returning to the iPhone 12 Pro model this year, with analysts predicting that Apple will use a screen with an integrated touch sensor. If so, it will match the in-screen fingerprint sensor that came with the Galaxy Note 10 and possibly make its way to Note 20 this year.
The Note 20 figures maintain a big advantage over the iPhone in one major area – there is still the S Pen, the powerful stylus that Samsung has supplied with its tablet. In recent years, Samsung has expanded the feature set for the S Pen, adding Bluetooth connectivity and expanded transcription capabilities. We have never heard whether the Note 20’s S Pen will get the same attention, but it will likely remain at the core of the Samsung phablet experience.
iPhone 12 Pro vs Galaxy Note 20 views
A lot can happen between now and when Apple and Samsung show off their new phones. But at this time, the battle of the iPhone 12 Pro vs Galaxy Note 20 is likely to be determined by which phone can provide a more attractive appearance and which can take the best pictures. Apple and Samsung each hope that their cellphone will win in two ways.
