As has become a tradition with annual Call of duty series, this year’s game seems to have leaked ahead of its official announcement. While Activision has confirmed that a new Call of Duty is coming this year, it hasn’t shared any details. However, according to the tweet that has since been strengthened by Eurogamer, this year’s game will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – signaling the return of the popular sub-series and a change in the naming convention for it. This will be the fifth major game in the Black Ops series, but it will be the first to significantly return to the past since the original Black Ops, as the series has become increasingly futuristic over the years.
The first Black Ops Cold War name appeared on Twitter by Leaker Okami13, and since then Eurogamer has reported hearing the same news from his source. This is very similar to the 2019s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the developer Treyarch will return to the place Call of Duty: Black Ops begins – a major change from the future war based on the Black Ops series traded in the third and fourth installments.
The Cold War arrangement is tempting Call of Duty: Warzone, with plans being reported for the battle royale to finally reveal the whole game. The players have found the Cold War airplane by piercing the walls. The disclosure may have been tied inward an ongoing mystery behind many vault doors at Warzone now.
The original Call of Duty: Black Ops was set in the 1960s and featured missions during the Vietnam War. It was an important release for Treyarch, with our album Call of Duty: Black Ops review print it 9/10. At the time, critic Chris Watters wrote, “Call of Duty: Black Ops lives according to the top-notch pedigree that the series has acquired, giving players an exceptional new shooter to enjoy just in time for the holidays.”
Last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare acted as a soft reboot to 2007 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, using returning characters and re-contextualizing them in a story that acts as a pseudo-prequel to the original event. Whether this will be the formula that Treyarch follows is also not yet seen.
