DOH Reports 12 New Cases of COVID-19; one is a travel-related Big Island case | Instant News



The State Department of Health is reporting 12 new cases of COVID-19 statewide as of noon today. That brings the total statewide to 1,393. Of the new cases, 11 are on Oahu and one on Big Island, which was found to be travel-related. The total number of cases in the city and county of Honolulu is 1,079 cases, as cases that were pending in the original county turned out to be Oahu cases as well. Maui County has the second-highest case total, with 135 cases. Hawaii County now has 114 reported cases, including 10 active cases and one active case requiring hospitalization. Kauai County’s total number of cases remains at 43. Twenty-two cases, in total, involved residents of Hawaii who were diagnosed while out of the state. So far, 150 of Hawaii’s cases have required hospitalization and there have been 24 deaths statewide. A total of 1,057 people were released from solitary confinement after their recovery, according to the DOH.
