Governor Gary Herbert announced that anyone over the age of 18 traveling to Utah as their final destination from either Salt Lake City International Airport or arriving via the Utah freeway must complete the travel declaration starting Friday.
The declaration, he explained, would include questions about whether they had been tested, had symptoms, and where they had just traveled. Utah Department of Transportation executive director Carlos Braceras said the agency had determined nine different entry point locations on highways, such as I-15 in Arizona and Idaho.
Drivers will receive text messages through the state emergency system after entering the state with a link to the statement form, he said.
Herbert said he was worried that the Easter weekend and spring break could lead to an unnecessary increase in travel.
“We have to be very careful about our journey,” he said.
