Trump hails arrest of JuD chief Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday hailed the arrest of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed — chief of the banned Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) — who India accuses of being the mastermind of the lethal 2008 Mumbai assaults and Washington has declared a worldwide terrorist.

“After a ten-year search, the so-called ‘mastermind’ of the Mumbai Terror assaults has been arrested in Pakistan. Nice stress has been exerted during the last two years to search out him!” mentioned Trump with out naming Saeed.

Saeed — who had a $10 million US bounty on his head — was taken into custody earlier within the day by counter-terrorism forces and despatched to jail on judicial remand.

Trump’s tweet comes days earlier than Prime Minister Imran Khan’s scheduled go to to Washington on July 22.
