UK’s Johnson sets more steps to fight new COVID variant | Instant News

LONDON (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday unveiled new measures to try to stop the spread of a variant of the new coronavirus called Omicron, saying all arrivals should be tested and it was time to step up booster shots.

“We will ask anyone entering the UK to have a PCR test at the end of the second day after their arrival and self-isolate until they get a negative result,” Johnson told a news conference.

He said those who had been in contact with people who tested positive for the suspected case of Omicron should self-isolate for 10 days and that the government would tighten rules on wearing face coverings.
