British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was transferred to the intensive care unit after being hospitalized afterwards coronavirus diagnosis.
Johnson was treated at St. Hospital. Thomas on Sunday after showing persistent viral symptoms, including high fever, almost two weeks after he was initially diagnosed. He accepts oxygen treatment shortly after he arrived.
The prime minister was transferred to the ICU on Monday.
“Throughout this afternoon, the Prime Minister’s condition has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit in the hospital,” a Downing Street spokesman said in a statement.
Before the virus spread in England and Johnson fell ill, he quipped that he shook hands with “everyone” during hospital visits with coronavirus patients. He then placed the UK in lockdown to stop the spread.
