A 63-year-old Jamaican-born man who has been described as a cruel sex predator who drugged and raped school children and forced some of them into prostitution, will serve a total prison sentence of 29 years in Britain.
Junior Chester Bryan, a Marton Road resident in Middlesbrough, England, was sentenced to 20 violations last month, including rape, sexual violence, fake imprisonment, living in prostitution and supplying Class A drugs, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.
During the six-week trial, it was heard that Bryan, who went to London from Jamaica at the age of 15, beat and raped girls as young as 14 between 1993 and 2013. This incident was reported in Middlesbrough, Leeds, Darlington and London.
Eight of his victims, who testified horribly at trial, said the Jamaicans ruined their lives.
According to media reports, during the trial at Teesside Crown Court in England, it was heard that when Bryan came to Middlesbrough in the 1990s, he began to use “his personality and violence to intimidate his victims, forcing some into prostitution”.
In one of his vicious attacks on young girls, Bryan gave a 16-year-old student a combination (cannabis spliff) which he had linked to heroin without his knowledge. He then raped her several times, and punched and strangled her in part, and hit her with a hammer.
The victim, who gave a statement, said her dream to become a beautician was destroyed by Bryan, as her life changed following her trials.
In another act of sexual violence, the Jamaican was said to have raped a 14-year-old child, while another teenager only managed to escape when his actions were disputed by a visitor.
In addition, he drugged a young woman who reportedly saw him as a father, and encouraged her to turn to prostitution, according to media reports.
At Bryan’s sentence last week, which was held via Skype for Coronavirus (COVID-19), Judge Howard Crowson said that the convicted person was a “predominant sexual offender” who destroyed the lives of others to fulfill his selfish desires. “
The judge sentenced Bryan to 24 years in prison “with an extended tariff of five years, after determining (that) he was dangerous,” media reports indicated.
