A Nigerian-born health worker, Carol Jamabo, has died of complications from Coronavirus in Britain, BBC reports.
The woman works as a caregiver at Cherish Elderly Care in Bury, Greater Manchester, and is said to have died on Wednesday after being tested positive for the virus.
An asthma patient, aged 56, is thought to be the first care giver to die of an illness in the UK.
Jamabo moved to England from Nigeria in the early 1990s and served as a health worker for more than 25 years.
He is said to have worked with prison services and as administrator of the National Health Service at Guy Hospital and St Thomas, NHS Foundation Trust in London.
Dakuro Fiberesima, his nephew, when confirming his death, said he was transferred to the intensive care unit at the Royal Salford Hospital but his condition worsened.
He said, “It happened so fast. There was no one by his side. With a ventilator decision, you only need to call those who plan to turn off the ventilator.
“He is such a popular person, there will be people there to fight for his angle so to speak.
“The youngest son is in a terrible position. He is very close to her. He lives with her. She is just an extraordinary aunt. “
