The National Women’s Football League will stream its ninth annual draft exclusively on Twitch at 6pm and all 40 selections will be made virtually.

The rules leading up to draft day are unclear as the league is trying to manage COVID-19. After the NCAA approves a waiver that allows student-athletes to decide whether they will report to their NWSL team before or after spring, some of the NCAA’s top coaches were confused as to how best to advise their players.

In an effort to increase the number of players who qualify for the draft, the league removed the registration requirement automatically qualifies all Division I players who have spent three years qualifying for inter-college football before the 2020-2021 academic year.

The NWSL has since announced a list of 50 registered players, 10 more than the number of selections over four rounds.

Chicago Red Stars made significant strides ahead of the draft as coach Rory Dames expressed uncertainty about the 2021 draft class.

Mallory Pugh and Sarah Killion Woldmoe were acquired from Sky Blue FC for the fourth and eighth overall selections in the 2021 draft, conditional first-round selections in the 2022 draft and international slots for 2021 and 2022.Dames said he believes this trade will add more Red Stars than selection. whatever he did in the 2021 draft.

The team also announced that it earned $ 35,000 in Money Allocation and North Carolina Courage’s natural second-round selection in the 2022 Draft National Women’s Football League in exchange for the 2021 International Slot.

Racing Louisville FC has an overall No. 1 in tonight’s draft, followed by Washington Spirit, two picks by Sky Blue FC, and another from Louisville to complete the top five of the draft selection.

The Red Stars has four choices in tonight’s draft: 6th overall, 18th, 25th, and 35th.
