Today, we announce the designation of the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain as the “Key Security Partners” of the United States.

The designation as “Main Security Partner” is a unique status for the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain. It recognizes our extraordinary security partnership – exemplified by hosting thousands of United States Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines – and each country’s commitment to countering violent extremism across the region. Most notably, the two countries have participated in many US-led coalitions over the past 30 years.

Today’s decision represents a new level of partnership between the United States, United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain and represents a lasting commitment to economic and security cooperation. It also reflected their extraordinary courage, determination, and leadership in entering the Abraham Accords.
