Non profit organization British Vegan Friendly recently launched a symbol of Vegan-Friendly certification to help vegan-friendly businesses promote their vegan choices. The heart-shaped symbol identifies restaurants that are vegan-friendly if their menu enhances a variety of vegan dishes. Originally established in Israel, the organization extends to the UK in an effort to increase the presence of vegan options and make veganism more accessible by encouraging businesses to add vegan options.
“We will increase the visibility and exposure of restaurants that serve a minimum of 25 percent vegan options by labeling them digitally and physically,” Ofek Ron, Vegan-Friendly General Manager, said. “We will also give restaurants hands free training and guidance on how to change the ingredients on their plates to increase their vegan offerings. In our Israeli effort, with our help, the restaurant where we work has been able to sell about 20 percent more vegan dishes than before. This means that these restaurants, in turn, sell fewer meat dishes and more vegan dishes. ”
Vegan Friendly Certification will initially be launched with an online presence and as soon as the restaurant starts to open after COVID-19 closes, Londoners will begin to notice heart-shaped stickers at the entrance to their favorite vegan-friendly restaurant.
