Greensboro, NC — North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper will announce plans for the opening of schools for the 2020-2021 school year this time.

Governor Cooper is expected to make an announcement at a scheduled press conference on Wednesday about how the state’s K-12 public schools will resume for the upcoming academic year.

Many school districts expect the announcement, trying to come up with different plans and scenarios for students to perhaps go back to class during a pandemic COVID-19 in the new academic year is approaching.

Within the state recommendations and requirements one of three plans for the opening will come into effect after an announcement made in the near future.

  • Plan: Minimal Social Distancing
  • Plan B: Moderate Social Distancing
  • Plan C: Only Distance Learning

Guilford County schools announced Tuesday launched two task forces to assist in the district on how to reopen the school in August amid COVID-19 pandemic.

The SCS said that each task force includes teachers, principals included staff, parents and community members.

The school district said that in addition to GCS, it is composed of Cumberland County schools, Durham public schools, a result of the public school system of the County and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools.

GCS said that the district authorities will be to discuss the task force’s recommendations at a special meeting next week.

The work session starts at 6 p.m. July 9 and will be held virtually.
